The Gilder Bairn wallpaper could have been good if they didn't mess around with the borders as much as they did. As of late they always seem to manage to ruin potentially great wallpapers.

I feel a strong urge to pick a nit with the rules corner's definition of lethal damage today, specifically:

This is equal to the creature's toughness, minus any amount of damage that's already been assigned to it or is simultaneously being assigned to it.

Unless something's radically changed recently (or I have things wrong myself) it should be previously dealt or simultaneously assigned damage that counts - particularly since the next sentence says to ignore damage prevention - which could easily be taken as meaning that a green 4/4 double striking trampler blocked by an X/4 creature with protection from green, having assigned 4 points of first strike damage to the blocker would then be able to assign all its normal damage to the player...

Okay there, signed up for gleemax, signed in, came back to this page, signed in, signed in again, and NOW I can complain about the desecration of today's wallpaper. It's hideous! Let the art speak for itself. If it's a legal issue with putting the exact same image as the art up for download, then somebody tell me. Or do something less invasive, instead of the crappy border for today. And if there is some legal issue, is the irritating EVENTIDE branding not enough?

Quote from August 1st Ask Wizards:

(towards the end of the article) ... all of the attacking creature's combat damage—in this case, 4—can be assigned to the defending player ...

Tattermunge Maniac enchanted with Runes of the Deus is a 4/3 trampler with double strike.  2 damage to kill the blocking 2/2 Grizzly Bears, should 2+4=6 damage trample through to the player?

Thanks.

Assuming the maximum possible damage is assigned to the player, then, yes, it would come to 6 damage over the two damage steps.

The article already mentioned the (up to) 2 first strike trample damage, so at that point it's only talking about the 4 points of regular combat damage that get assigned to the player

Honestly, this is an improvement. The borders used to be abstract/geometric patterns that seemed intent on making sure nobody used them at all. At least this one is sort of on-theme.

And nobody else is interested by the card of the day? Maybe it's just because I was randomly trying to think of the flavor not too long (along the lines of a field of lotus flowers, something like Pale Lotus Field, tap to add one colorless mana, Not as powerful or rare as their darker-hued cousin, but with a far more subtle strength to them. )

I'm thinking we're going to see the 6th basic in SoA finally, it would tie in with some of the rumours I've seen regarding the land structure in SoA, plus make good use of the basic land in every pack thing they're foisting on us. Just speculation on my part.

The Article]Once an attacking creature becomes blocked, it won't get to deal combat damage to the defending player unless it has trample or some other ability that specifically lets it do so

So they did mention it, they just probably didn't specify Rhox since there are things like Thorn Elemental, Tornado Elemental, Pride of Lions, Lone Wolf (but no cub), and even sorceries like Predatory Focus which do the same thing. Then there's Karplusan Wolverine which takes the 'Rhox' ability a step further, albeit it a smal wrote:
