Before talking about what works/doesn't work, how about a very brief section convering the absolute basics of a generic deck:
Basic Pointers:
- Deck should contain 35-40 land, - only 10-15 spells with 0-2 cc, - 15-25 creatures.
etc.

Also, thanks to whoever sticky'd this! :D
And so people say to me, "How do I know if a word is real?" You know, anyone who's read a children's book knows that love makes things real. If you love a word, use it! That makes it real. Being in the dictionary is an artificial distinction; it doesn't make the word any more real than any other word. If you love a word, it becomes real. --Erin McKean, Redefining the Dictionary

I'll do it within a couple days probably, meanwhile if anyone else has any generic pointers feel free to post suggestions.

You might want to consider a short addendum to what works/doesn't work: Stuff that's absolutely broken in MP (aka auto includes). I'm thinking things like Seedborn Muse in Green, or Myojin of Night's Reach in Black. Spells that become very powerful in a 4+ player game.
Guess what? Chicken butt.

Maybe we divide the entire article into Duel Play and Multiplayer sections?

Maybe we divide the entire article into Duel Play and Multiplayer sections? Personally, I build my EDH decks to work in both environments and I don't know too many people who have a deck specifically designed for single-player, so I question whether reorganizing the entire guide to fit that format is useful.
Besides, I wouldn't do that simply because it's too much work and I'd have to rewrite too much :P

i'm always looking for more casual ways to play this game, and EDH seems like the next answer. Thanks for the primer, it will def. help me get into it.

Nice work. I've been playing EDH for about a year now, and this still gave me some things to think about. Thank you!

Tempo Cards Sacrificing card advantage for tempo is a bad idea in EDH. Dark Ritual, Chrome Mox, Fireblast, Lotus Bloom, etc, are all unplayable.[/quote] I disagree...
Dark Ritual, Cabal Ritual are both very playable, opening hand they are amazing, and if you are playing black, you are playing Yawgmoth's Will, both cards are broken in your GY
Chrome Mox and Mox Diamond are also very playable, in decks that are 3+ colors, or decks that run tolrian academy
Seething song is awesome in all mono red decks...
I do agree that cards like fireblast and shard volley are bad in EDH though.
