Slower, yes. However, think Treefolk. There are many quality ones and if you run ~10 accel cards (Elves, Druids, Birds, or Wall of Roots), you can possibly drop ugly, ugly threats. At least, from what I see, that is a possible direction for MonoGreen. As it stands, GW is a lot better in the post-Lorwyn environment.

Am I the only one that is just like super let down that this deck has lost its speed and evasion? IMO, Lorwyn didn't even come close to making up for what Ravnica gave this deck. I don't expect perfect replacements, but the set gave nothing to really go with the theme of this deck whatsoever. It seems like basically the only alternative is by playing elves which slow down the deck and are not evasive. Why even play mono green anymore? It seems like you may as well combine Black or Blue if you want to slow the deck down and make it more control. Even splashing red doesn't seem viable anymore as Giant Solifuge doesn't even have a replacement and Lorwyn didn't bring much for burn spells. Perhaps I am just being pessimistic, but honestly it seems as though our beloved deck is dead.

I'm not entirely convinced of that. Gaddock Teeg is a great card and all, but I think Treefolk decks that are mono green will work better. Here's an initial stab at a mono-green Treefolk list:

Treefolk

Land (23):
4 Dryad Arbor
4 Treetop Village
15 Forest

Creatures (29):
4 Treefolk Harbinger (G)
4 Wall Of Roots (1G)
4 Heartwood Storyteller (1GG)
4 Dauntless Dourbark (3G)
3 Seedguide Ash (4G)
4 Timber Protector (4G)
4 Baru, Fist Of Krosa (3GG)
2 Verdeloth, The Ancient (4GG)

Sorceries (8):
4 Hunting Wilds (3G)
4 Primal Command (3GG)

SB
4 Rootgrapple
4 Quagnoth
3 Bogstrider Ash
4 Thorn Of Amethyst

I intend to run a version of MGA, but if you know my style of deck building, you know it's going to be different.

well i figured id just post my MGA deck listing here. played it in a local FNM and i took first place. i was 4 wins 0 loses in the swiss and we cut to top 4 and of course didnt lose any of those. i played a mono white stall deck, god that was annoying. a green white aggro, green black discard aggro. i played the green black once in swiss and then in top 4. and i played a painful black blue control. i played the black blue control in the top 2 or what ever it is called. well any ways here is the listing.

Land
16 x Forest
Creatures
4 x Llanowar Elves
3 x Scryb Ranger
3 x Silhana Ledgewalker
3 x Troll Ascetic
3 x Uktabi Drake
3 x Imperiosaur
2 x Ohran Viper
Spells
4 x Search for Tomorrow
4 x Blanchwood Armor
3 x Giant Growth
3 x Might of Oaks
3 x Might of Old Krosa
3 x Naturalize
Artifacts
3 x Loxodon Warhammer

SB
4 x Karplusan Strider
4 x Groundbreaker
3 x Primal Forcemage
3 x Skarrgan Pit-Skulk
1 x Naturalize

yea the deck has low amount of land, but in the entire tournament i got land screwed once and i still got the guy down to 3 life before he beat me down.
i know i need treetop village, but i just play one one or two creatures at a time if i am afraid of global Creature control. enjoy and let me know if it needs a fixing.

Seriously let down by Lorwyn so far:
-No real evasion cards (I mean, there's a pro-gpblin elf, but that's a far cry from Ledgy).
-Gaddock Teeg looks good for SB against Wrath, etc., and Cloudtrhesser is situationally good as well but, really, if ISB in Hurricane or Squall line, I find I use it for more than two damage (killed someone with a 7-point SL at FNM magic this week, in fact).
-Vigor is okay but pricey. Primal Command is okay but pricey. Lignify is an interesting way to (almost) give Green removal.
-I guess leaf guilder is okay for MGA.
-Elvish Harbinger would be good if cheaper and if it could fish for, say, a groundbreaker or Scryb Ranger or what you will.

Well, at least I'll be saving my money.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you. Some Hasty builds may survive the rotation, but the beloved mono-green-aggro evasion archetype will die in mid-October.

Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.

One such as myself has neither need nor time for amazing signatures.

Yup it's deader than dead come Lorwyn. Mind you green still has some very strong moves. I think a combination of Garruk, CotH, Ascetic, Wren Run's Vanquisher and Vigor might do well. The deck would just drop 3/3's every turn or a creature with deathtouch. I think the really interesting move is deathrender. Which could carry this deck (its basically the same cost as warhammer however if your creature dies you can replace it...with anything which could be very interesting.

I like the Wren's Run Vanquisher but the problem with it is you need a lot of elves for it to be effective, I have been testing a grull deck, using them, and have found in order to get them out on turn 2 on a regular basis you need to have about 20 elves in your deck. Which is kind of lot when consider just how many are playable (though elvish berserker have tested suprisingly well, which I think is more because of the lack of dominant 1 drops then anything else), and it sucks when you have one in your hand and can't cast it. Anyways I agree that MGA evasion days are over, though syrcb force should still be competetive.

You know . ..
There will, of course, be Lorwyn expansions.
And, now that I think of it, what are we losing from the core of our decks? Ledgy, sure, and Moldervine Cloak. The former will certainly hurt (a lot--he's won me more games . ..); the latter can be replaced with blanchwood armor. Solifuge is good but not everyone runs him. We still have GB, Seabiscuit, and UDrake for haste, most of our pumps, an impervious troll, flashback elephants, 3/3 trample lands, etc.
I like voicej's suggestions about Wren's Run Vanquisher and Elvish Berseker.
I guess I'm feeling in a little better spirits about things, I guess because, with the notable exception of Ledgy, the loss of Ravinica isn't stinging me too badly.
But we green mages should consider ourselves hosed by Lorwyn thus far. have you looked at the spoiler? Red and Blue look nasty as always and ever.
Lignify, off-topic, looks like a great SB card, btw.

I think now that we aren't AS evasive, Utopia Vow might be a better choice, since it makes it so they can't block, there for you can atleast nullify a blocker/attacker, instead of just giving them a blocker. I, myself, may just go for mono green elves after Lowryn, I'll probably post a list sometime within this week, the next, or the week after.
