I suppose, even with creatures of dream appearing in the setting, it would be too late to reprint [dbm]Bloodthirsty Redcap[/dbm]. Ah well.

For the record, my friend and I looked at Bloodied Ghost and said near-simultaneously "Man, that is some good design."

It has fans. I swear.

I'm surprised that there was resistance to Bloodied Ghost. It's neat, elegant, cool design.

Bloodied Ghost: I'm so glad they kept that in. The art rocks, and the design is simple.

Also, Stream Hopper look is an homage to two old cards that gained flying until end of turn, one red, one blue, both 1/1. It would fit right in place in Time Spiral.

Yay Goats!

I think it would be even more hilarious if Shards of Alara had a ridiculous number of Goats in it to steal. Please?

1.) I like Bloodied Ghost. I'm not even sure why, but I smiled when I first saw the card.

2.) Creakwood Liege. Yup. I read it, saw it made 1/1's and dismissed it. In fact I read it two or three more times before I said, "Wait a minute, those aren't 1/1's. Ya got me, congrats.

3.) Double Cleave. Shocking.

4.) Hatchet Bully. Grrr, if there's one thing WotC doesn't do enough of, its additional alternate costs. Why stop ate removing counters? Return a creature to your hand? Remove 5 cards in the graveyard? Double your each opponent's life total. There is SOOOO much room here. I'm glad someone likes the idea and I'd like to see more.

5.) Helix Pinnacle. Can't stand it. IF and only IF it didn't have shroud, I'd have loved it. Yes, I understand the reasoning behind it: Namely, it'd be broken without it. Sooooo much potential went to waste. Would it have been broken at 200 counters? 500? 1000? Surely there was some way to print it without shroud. Sigh.

6.) Quillspike. One of my favorite cards of the set. Alternate costs AND it gets bigger? Neat. I had hoped that Evertide would bring in some sort of anti-spike card. Say something like 4/4 that comes into play with 3 -1/-1 counters. Then you could distribute the counters to other creatures? The PERFECT black Spike. Looks like this is as close as it gets. (Though, feel free to steal the anti-spike. Seriously, I'll sign off on it.)

7.) Suture Spirit: Death Ward End of argument, right?

Glamerdye

When Eventide design was handed over, all of the retrace spells were sorceries. Then during development, this card was created and by its very nature wanted to be an instant. To keep this from being the only instant with retrace, Oona's Grace was changed to an instant

On a second thought....

Out of the three Retraces we have, all of them are Sorceries. I have a feeling that Wizards may be playing it safe by putting these Retrace cards at Sorcery only, just like how they avoid making Instants with Storm in Time Spiral. If all these retrace cards are all Sorcery, then it will be a bit less of a threat, because once their main phase is gone, those instant GY hates will work wonders.

My suspicion was exactly right

That was a fun and interesting read, I really like the column styles MaRo uses like this one. :D

I too think Bloodied Ghost was well executed. I saw it as a Wind Drake with the ability to get bigger.

I didn't fall for Creakwood Liege though, I immediately saw the counters as 3/3. It is somewhat odd to see a creature make tokens bigger than itself is.

The way I read that was that it would be broken (overpowered) without having shrou wrote:

The way I read that was that it would be broken (overpowered) without having shroud? How?

Probably worried that Gilder Bairn would make it too easy after just a few doublings. I am more of the opinion that having it vulnerable to normal enchantment hate would have weakened Helix Pinnacle overall.
