Three people called the Ferret 'the weasel'. I'm not sure what's going on here but it may be do to my own post?[/quote] Mine wasn't. I'd have put "I don't know the man personally" talking about any other male of the species but for Ferret "the weasel" seemed more appropriate (well, that and I was too lazy to look up the scientific name for the family weasels and ferrets belong to).
On bringing back JMS: I doubt you'll get that particular wish even in an ideal world. From his last few rogue deck and precon evolution articles I gather that his life leaves very little time for magic these days.
On Kelly Digges: That was exactly the tone I was hoping the article wouldn't be taking. The forced excitement and overzealous pushing of product really turned me off (and I loved that card when I saw it on MTG Salvation). Too early to cry wolf for serious but I'm not feeling hopeful.

Time marches on, and sometimes even a beloved pastime will be squeezed out by more pressing concerns. That definitely seems to have happened with Jay. Still, as long as I'm making a wish list...

I'll really miss the Ferrett...
I'm not a regular reader here, but whenever I visited the site (usually short before a prerelease), I went to the Ferrett's archive to read all his articles I had missed in between. never did that with any of the other authors.
FFA is also all I play, except on prereleases. For me it's what Magic's all about: a reason to get together with friends and have a great time. The Ferrett's articles were about very recognisable situations, and still there was something to be learned in (almost) every one of them. Apart from that, they were simply well-written.
Articles about other wacky formats would also be nice to read, but as others have said it's hard to actually get to play these formats, as you have to plan in advance: get everyone to know the rules (not all of my friends visit this site), give everyone time to build an appropriate deck (some of my friends have a new deck every week, others stick mostly to their old decks for lack of time or cardpool...), then set a date and play. Rinse and repeat time after time...
For this reason I'm quite sure that FFA will allways remain the most-played format in casual multiplayer: you can just call some friends, get together the same night, and have fun playing, everyone can bring whichever deck they have lying around.
So why get rid of an excellent writer that writes about the most-played casual multiplayer around, just because he's not the guy to ask to write about those wacky formats? They could have created another column for that, or just invited guest-writers to fill the slot instead of the Ferrett now and then (once a month would be plenty, as far as I'm concerned...)
So long Ferrett, thanks for al the fun!
Look! I found an egg!

Boy, I just read his last article. I logged on today to read his article specifically. Since Wizards made the mistake that is v3, I have not been watching closely. This website used to have some excellent writers. I will miss the Ferrit.
Another terrible decision by Wizards, go figure.
Nice job Ferrit. You wrote interesting, informative, and FUN articles to read.
