Sorry, I know I posted this before in a different thread, but this thread just seemed more sencible to post it in. Plz reply ASAP. thank you.

Addressing - There is really only one thing to say about this--include a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) and write on it LEGIBLY. Do not put the artist's address as the return address on your SASE- if you didn't put enough postage or something else goes wrong, it'll go to you and you'll have to pick up the tab on the postage--otherwise we get the letter back and have to deal with it. If I get letters returned it takes a long time to run it down to the post office, if I ever do. YOUR GOAL IS TO ALLOW THE ARTIST TO SEND YOUR CARDS BACK FROM HOME. Artists are lazy, and aren't usually willing to run down to the post office just to buy postage for your cards. Not to mention some artists don't live very close to a post office!

That quote is from Terese Nielsen's Webpage.
URL: http://www.tnielsen.com/artists/nielsen/main.asp

Could someone clearify this for me?
So I send my cards, a note and/or thank you, a pre-stamped envolope.
On that Pre-stamped envolope, where do I put my address? On the "To:" or the "Fr:" or both?

Ex:
-------------------------*******
- Fr: --------------------*STAMP*
-------------------------*******
----------------------------------
----------- To: ------------------
----------------------------------
----------------------------------
----------------------------------

Yttric Ventus]Quick question. How do you post card images in the editions? I've tried almost everything I can think of.

fifthedition
fifth_edition
5thedition
5th_edition
editionfive
etc.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Waza: You can quote this post, then copy everything after the asterisks and replace the entire image posting question with it.

Q. How can I post images of Magic cards?
A.
There are several ways to both display card pictures and link to cards in your posts.

Links to cards:
The easiest way to link to a Magic card is to use the [card] tags. [card]Atog[/card] in a post will become Atog . You can learn all about "autocarding", as it's called, in the All About Autocarding thread located in the [forum=147]Boards Business[/forum] forum. The information there is quite extensive, so I'll focus on posting card images.

Posting pictures of cards:
You can display card images with the following code:

[img]http://www.wizards.com/global/images/magic/general/card_name.jpg[/img]

obviously replacing "card_name" with the desired card's name. Make sure to replace all spaces and hyphens (-) in the card name with underscores and to remove all other punctuation.

To get versions from different sets, replace "general/" in the address with the directory for the expansion you want.
Here is the list of directories Show

Saviors of Kamigawa= sok/
Betrayers of Kamigawa= bok/
Champions of Kamigawa= chk/
Fifth Dawn= fd/
Mercadian Masques= mm/
Urza's Destiny= ud/
Urza's Legacy= ul/
Urza's Saga= uz/
Ice Age= ia/
Fallen Empires= fe/
The Dark= dark/
Arabian Nights= an/
9th Edition= 9e/
8th Edition= 8e/
7th Edition= 7e/
6th Edition (Classic)= 6e/
5th Edition= 5e/
4th Edition= 4e/
Portal Second Age= portal2/
Portal Three Kingdoms= p3k/
Battle Royale= br/

Starter, Promo, and all single-word sets use their full set name, e.g. the directory for Invasion is "invasion/" and the directory for Alpha is "alpha/". Both Starter sets use the "starter/" directory.
So, you can display an Urza's Saga Goblin Raider like this:

[img]http://www.wizards.com/global/images/magic/uz/goblin_raider.jpg[/img]

Alternate Card Art:
The Brothers Yamazaki , basic lands, card promos, and cards from the Fallen Empires, Alliances and Homelands sets may have different art versions. You can easily find these by adding 2, 3, or 4 to the card name. So to get the male version of the Alliances Storm Shaman you would use:

[img]http://www.wizards.com/global/images/magic/alliances/storm_shaman2.jpg[/img]

Like so:

Making a Link to Gatherer:
You can make a link in your browser or on your desktop to the Gatherer window by creating an internet shortcut and then changing the target URL to the following:

javascript:void(window.open('http://gatherer.wizards.com/gathererlookup.asp?set=Beta&name=plains','Gatherer','width=710,height=500,scrollbars=yes,toolbars=no,location=no,directories=no,status=no,menubar=no,copyhistory=no'));

Make sure you get everything when you copy it and that you erase all the spaces that the boards software adds to such long strings. This will give you a link that will open a new Gatherer window showing a Beta Plains.
Internet Explorer users will find that IE won't like that you're trying to make a javascript shortcut, so actually making the link is a little difficult. In IE, take an existing internet link, right-click and select "Create Shortcut". This will make a copy of that shortcut. Right-click the copy and select "Properties". Copy the java text from above into the "URL:" text-box and hit Ok. A pop up message will appear, hit "Yes" and mumble something under your breath about the stupidity of Windows.
I have no idea if other platforms have similar problem with Java links.

Thanks Mikey! I was going to get around to that, honest! To tell the truth though I'm still not really sure why instructions on how to use the autocard fall under the Art & Artist FAQ?

So, Waza, I was thinking that one additon to the FAQ might be:

Q: How do I become a Magic Artist?

A: Submit a portfolio to Wizards of the Coast and keep your fingers crossed! Here's the URL for Wizards' Submission Guidelines.
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=co … submission

I'm sure you can come up with better wording but getting the URL in the FAQ is the important thing. The actual page is appalingly difficult to find by simply hunting around on the website.

Pete

I think the Yawgmoth art question should be added to the FAQ, every 2-3 months someone comes and asks.
