Is anyone else sick of submitting serious questions and having them turned down, only to log on and see this kind of thing? I am. I've asked a really good question every month for the last eight months or so and gotten nothing. I won't bother asking a question I don't think the readers would be interested in hearing the answer to.
For instance, I believe I once asked if any thought had been given to how much time the third set in a block has to truly shine in Standard and how drafting decks that seek to make use of storm, sunburst, "size-matters" and "wisdom" cards is inherently difficult because the first two sets have little to no support for these support-hungry mechanics.
Something like that. I can't think of a "really good" question that went unanswered right now and hope I'm making sense in my sleepiness.

I disagree about the whole "which color is evil", especially green. I think the Zerg make for green villains. I think the rabbits that overran Australia are also arguably a green villain (which would make the Silvers a green-aligned villain in Onslaught block, since it's the same premise). I agree that what "evil" means makes a big difference. I'm inclined to think Red is more likely to do "evil" than blue (although Blue is creepy and unsettling even when it's being good). Interesting point, Conrad (that is you, isn't it?). I don't know if a nonsentient force of nature can be considered evil, but certainly destructive applies. And the Zerg (or the Tyrannids in Warhammer 40K, who I suspect the Zerg are basically a rip-off of) are at least somewhat intelligent in their pursuit of the "evolve at all costs agenda", so they're sort of green-black, but definitely show how green is capable of horrific brutality and voracity. I don't think you have to be nonsentient to be green-motivated, and this does seem like a pretty good fit. (Also, green is the most conservative color, so something like a guy who wants to abolish modern medicine because it's "unnatural" or "against the will of God" could qualify as a green villain.)
There are arguments for or against villainy in all the colors, though overall green has the hardest time being willfully evil, and black the hardest time being willfully good. (I still think the Weatherlight version of Crovax was the perfect black hero; he thought the whole world revolved around him, but that its purpose was to make him miserable, and so he spitefully lashed out at it by doing good as one of Gerrard's hero-buddies.) The order that this question laid out is based on the idea that villainy requires intent and premeditation, by which blue naturally scores higher than red or green; blue intentionally premeditates everything, whether good or ill. Red and green act on the spur of the moment, so while they can be incredibly destructive, it's hard to be sure that evil is the right word. You could probably argue that serial killers like Dahmer and Manson are more red than black, however, and nobody would argue that they were evil.
It's not that it's impossible to find forms of villainy or heroism in any color. Between you, me and the guy who answered the Ask Wizards question, we've come up with at least three archetypes for green villainy (ecoterrorists, Zergs, and ultraconservatives), and there are probably at least four for red (serial killers, pyromaniacs/arsonists, devotees of chaos, and general marauders), at least five for blue (Memnarch, Laquatus and Momir Vig immediately spring to mind, but there are probably others), and at least six or seven for white, with black getting probably not less than ten. So the order probably still holds, but there's plenty of fertile territory for anything that you might want to do with the colors; that's why I love them so much.
As an aside, the list of which color is most likely to give rise to heroes is not the inverse of the villainy list, as green still scores low here due to not being very actively motivated. I'd say the order here is white-blue-green-red-black. White's folks are passionate in pursuit of an agenda which may end up being good or bad, so they go to extremes either way. Blue is right behind white in either case, since it has a lot of the same goals and just pursues them in a more standoffish and calculating way. And red has a hard lock on the #4 position in both lists being that it doesn't especially want to be either good or evil, it just wants to be itself, do what it wants to do, be nice to its friends and squish/fry/slice-n-dice its enemies, in no case following any real agenda.
PS: Yeah, the Slivers are totally green in agenda, even if they show up in all the colors. After all, prior to Lorwyn and arguably Ravnica (one Vesper Ghoul hardly suffices to earn the distinction for black), Green was the only color that really ever supported multicolor, so in essence a five-color tribe was by default a green tribe with strong influxes of the other four colors. Smokebraider is a nice shot at modifying this trend, and I hope similar cards push a functional multicolor style for factions that lean to the other colors.
My New Phyrexia Writing CreditsMy M12 Writing CreditsAs far as the benefit of the rest of Magic is concerned, gold cards in Legends were executed perfectly. They got all the excitement a designer could hope out of a splashy new mechanic without using up any of the valuable design space. Truly amazing. --Aaron Forsythe's Random Card Comment on Kei Takahashi

I don't know if this has been brought up before but is it possible to make the weekly wallpaper in a widescreen format? Either 16:9 or 16:10?

I had to crop and resize the Scapeshift wallpaper to look decent at 1680x1050, and the logos/text ended up semi-cut-off ... Not that I really wanted the logos in the first place, but I assume they have to be there.

Getting a runner-up slot was sweet. Mine was pretty good to eat. I hope I actually get my prize, as I never did get my prize for winning a trivia contest a few years back. I think the one with the manger scene should have won. Good job man. Good thinking on using Crib Swap for baby Jesus.

Copy effects work like a photocopy machine: you get a copy of the 'naked' card, NOT of what's on it.
Funny story: InQuest Magazine (I think it was InQuest) had an oversized Chaos Orb which I totally rooked someone into allowing into a (non-sanctioned) game. I had a proxy card that was a Mountain with "Chaos Orb" written on it. When I played it, my opponent cried foul:
Him: "WTF? a Proxy? no-one said anything about Proxies. Do you even own an actual Chaos Orb?" Me: "Yes, but I thought it would be better to use a Proxy." Him: "No way. If you're going to put a Chaos Orb in your deck you have to use your actual Chaos Orb." Me: "*Sigh*. Okay."
I pulled out this huge Chaos Orb and placed it on the table. He tried to cry foul again but everyone else said he insisted I use my actual Chaos Orb and that was my actual Chaos Orb. I used it, flipped it and wiped most of his board.
Unsurprisingly, that only worked once and only because everyone present thought it was hilarious.

no, see i can kill defenders, but 8 consecutive crits on a battlemind, eh walk it off.
Hi guys! So, I'm a sort of returning player to Magic. I say sort of because as a child I had two main TCG's I liked. Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon. Some of my friends branched off in to Magic, and I bought two pre-made decks just to kind of fit in. Like I said, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon were what I really knew how to play. I have a extensive knowledge of deck building in those two TCG's. However, as far as Magic is concerned, I only ever used those two pre made decks. I know how the game is played, and I know general things, but now I want to get in the game for real. I want to begin playing it as a regular. My question is, are all cards ever released from the time of the inception of this game until present day fair game in a deck? Or are there special rules? Are some cards forbidden or restricted? Thanks guys, and I will gladly accept ANY help lol.
I have the same problem with women.
Is this my new ego sig? Yes it is, other Barry

And that's why you should never, ever call RP Jesus on being a troll, because then everyone else playing along gets outed, too, and the thread goes back to being boring.
See, this is why RPJesus should be in charge of the storyline. The novel line would never have been cancelled if he had been running the show. Specifically the Slobad and Geth's Head talkshow he just described.
Not only was that an obligatory joke, it was an on-topic post that still managed to be off-topic due to thread derailment. RP Jesus does it again folks.
I think I'm gonna' start praying to Jesus... That's right, RPJesus, I'm gonna' be praying to you, right now.
O' Jesus
Please continue to make my time here on the forums fun and cause me to chuckle.
Amen.
It was wonderful. Us Johnnies had a field day. That Timmy with the Grizzly bears would actually have to think about swinging into your Mogg Fanatic , giving you time to set up your silly combo . Nowadays it's all DERPSWING! with thier blue jeans and their MP3 players and their EM EM OH AR PEE JEES and their "Dewmocracy" and their children's card games and their Jersey Shores and their Tattooed Tenaged Vampire Hunters from Beverly Hills
Seriously, that was amazing. I laughed my *ss off. Made my day, and I just woke up.

In 1/14/08's arcana (Cookies!) the list of figures from the winner was flawed: Spiny Starfish was mentioned in 2 places, whereas the 3 hands of the Severed Legion (my favorite card, flavorwise [Skirk Shaman? Not that impressed]) are listed nowhere. I believe that the 2nd mention of the Starfish should've been where the Zombies' Rushin' Hands & Roamin' Fingers would be listed.

Runner-up Sara Yarrington? Awesome! Sara bakes "Magical Mana Cookies" for Vintage participants at Myriad Games and it's nice to see her get some recognition.
