Here is what I have been working with. I know it's probably got some problems, but I feel really good about dropping SSG, and haven't had any problems because of it. I went for a slower approach, playing more counterspells, explosives/Ruins, and Ancestral Vision over Ponder.

3 Engineered Explosives
3 Blood Moon
1 Conflagrate
4 Ancestral Vision
4 Spell Snare
4 Mana Leak
3 Condescend
4 Chain of Plasma
4 Thirst for Knowledge
4 Polluted Delta
3 Flooded Strand
1 Breeding Pool
3 Steam Vents
2 Academy Ruins- I don't know how LSV could justify not including some of these.
9 Island
SB
1 EE
3 Chalice
2 Gigadrowse
2 Vedalken Shackles
1 Blood Moon
2 Threads of Disloyalty
4 Firespout
I haven't messed with the SB too much, but I'm wanting to make the numbers more consistent. I like Chalice/Firespout in the board as a way to mop up Elves and Zoo.
Thoughts?

Why not playing Muddle the Mixture to fetch the chain of plasma, and protect the combo?

Because this plays like a control deck with a combo finisher, not a straight out combo deck that needs it's pieces. Muddle sucks in just control.
