Before I begin this post, I would like to thank Star City Games and its staff for the opportunity to judge at GP: Denver.  Their hospitality and care for all of us was excellent, and I very much enjoyed working with all of you, judges and employees alike.  I would also like to thank Jason Lemahieu and Christopher Richter for the significant amount of time both judges spent mentoring me throughout the weekend.

There is nothing like walking off the plane (never flown before) and seeing mountains.  We had a solid 850 players at the GP, and it was a crazy busy 3 days of Magic action.  Between grinders on Friday night, deck checks with a Level 4 team lead on Saturday, and head judging two Star City Games draft opens, I found myself being stretched and pulled in

This is my first blog entry on the Wizards Community site.  I have been a regular blogger in the DCIFamily blog, reserved specifically for judges.  However, most of what I post there is definitely information and discussion that could certainly be public information, so I will do my best when appropriate to put my thoughts and ideas and discussion topics on this medium as well.

To give you a little background as to my play and judge experience, I started playing Magic in Revised many, many years ago.  However, my judge story begins 2 years ago, when I lost my teaching job.  I ended up moving into the Flint MI area for a bit to work and try to pick up the pieces of my life, a life without a classroom.  (Side note: I was a very good teacher, but politics in a small

DTwenty Games, just experienced the pinnacle of why we opened.

Last night's M11 Release Party was a tremendous success with excellent turnout, amazing play, great fun, and awesome victories!

As this was our first 'Sanctioned' Magic tournament at DTwenty, we were all a bit nervous! (Knowing how serious MtG play can get when ratings and prizes are on the line.)  From the beginning we could feel that this would somehow be different, and our nervousness became refined into pure awesome, as the night's battles wore on.

The initial registration process was unexpectedly great fun. It was interesting watching everyone -- mingling and waiting to be signed up, chatting with one another about their common interests.  The experience was reminiscent of being in line for a concert, talking about

Just letting you guys know that we will be starting the Magic League at Palais des Cartes on Saturday Juin 12th and will be going on until the end of the year. I emailed everyone I had emails for, so a lot of you have already been informed about this. I'll be posting the email I sent out at the bottom of this blog.

The format will be decided the day before, for the first weekend it will be Standard format just so we can get it started, and I'm down for many ideas. I mean I wanted to have a, all common/uncommon standard format, block constructed, two headed giants, etc. I'm going to be announcing it during FNMs but I need to start getting confrimations from people of who will be attending.

Here is the email I sent out for those that haven't read or gotten it:
