If a traditional party of 4 (Cleric, Fighter, MU, Thief) were to kill their way to 2nd level, preying upon only that weakest of traditional D&D monsters, the lowly Kobold, how many deaths would they have on their collective conscience by the time they all hit 2nd level?  The answer in 5e, is 100, even (cool, huh?), but I wondered how that compared to other eds:

So, I know I'm a notorious 4venger and all, but this one is just out of curiousity, and it led to some surprises.

For one thing, I couldn't find the 0D&D 'collector set' I received as a gift in 1989 - big surprise there, but if anyone wants to do the same for that, it might be fun.

For another, going through the numbers for 1e, I was forced to consider treasure types, because 1e gave exp for collecting money, 1 per...

Man, this was a season that went by way to fast.

I had a great time DM'ing but did not put nearly enough time into it becasue of work and family stuff. The RP which really should have been awesome never really took off & I ended up just having Encounteritis--silly RP Followed by a fight that takes to long.

Part of this may have been 4E burn out and part of it may have been a new shop--a new shop that is so awesome I often focus on the friends and social activities more than on the table--this is my bad, and will likely be better next season!

WotC really does continue to put out some very good Encounters material.

Following a successful introduction to D&D session and requests from some of my regular Encounters players I decided to organise a new ongoing campaign.

On my regular blog I recount the thoughts behind organising this, how and why I chose the adventures and how the group are progessing.

I must give a big nod of thanks to  for his brilliant article on converting the original H1 Keep on the Shadowfell adventure for use in the Forgotten Realms. I have decided to take parts of this plus another superb fan-written article which expands the original adventure and ties all three of the H-series into a more cohesive story line (Demon Prince of Undeath, H1-3 conversion by Myrhdraak).
