Sabulum is an ancient city, its foundations laid thousands of years ago. Throughout the ages it has been in ruin several times, sometimes due to war, others not known to current history. The history of Ancient Sabulum is sketchy at best, few records in the east or west mentioning the city at all, but known to encompass several eras of the city's existence, including at least two wars which left the city in ruins, the last one about 1600 years ago known as the War of the Serpents.

The city's catacombs are at least as old as Old Sabulum, and likely much older than that. They run under the whole city, but as part of the rebuilding have been walled off between some districts, and are guarded below as above ground where entry is restricted. Unguarded parts of the catacombs are home to several shady groups of people, and rumours of strange creatures and horrors might just be their way of keeping nosy people out. Kicking off the campaign, four of the heroes all have ties to Faerghal Scar, a goliath who runs a guard & protect service for caravans and traders in the city. Gauthak and Rangrim, having just arrived from the Gleimiz mountains, know his name as a place to get work in Sabulum, while Mud and Ioan get regular tips from Faerghal about unprotected parties to take ...

This week I give you a few news 'toys' for your Pathfinder or 3.5 Campaigns. 3 New feats and a new player class, The Revenant. For awhile I wanted to personally play an undead race that did not have a crazy ECL or level adustment. I didn't want to strip and undead down to bare bones (hehe) to play it. Instead I took the Eberron Warforged race and modified it to suit the role of an undead hero. If all goes as planned the next article will include adventure hooks, racial feats, a new spelland some specialized equipment for Revenants.

The weary heroes rested for several hours after battling the kobold horde in their camp. Time was spent examining the strange runes tattooed on the arms of their fallen enemies, but no conclusion was reached. As early afternoon rolled around, they gathered their gear back up, and inspected the trail to the north more carefully. It was clear this path had been well-used by the kobolds. Following it, they quickly arrived at a sheer rock face, in which an ancient archway was carved, with stairs leading down into the dark. At the bottom they found a dank entryway with signs of recent use, and passages leading off in multiple directions. With little discussion, the party chose the passage to the East, and unanimously voted to let the rogue go first. The hallway led them to a much ...

I've been spending a lot of time in the sewers of Stormreach lately, mostly because of Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited. My character, Moomba Mossfoot, is a halfling ranger 1/rogue 2, and he's unrelenting death on kobolds and troglodytes.
It led me to a realization, though. My adventure isn't as complex as I thought. If my heroes go shopping first, they need to hear about robbers coming out of the sewers. If they go carousing first, they need to hear about strange lights in the cellar, and find a "secret" door leading to the sewers. If they report to their patrons first...they need to hear that there's no work for them right now, and they should rest, enjoy themselves, and equip themselves for their next job.
Time to get to work.

Our group Patfinder wiki is up and a work in progress now. I have added a few feats Cleaving Assault Greater Cleaving Assault. I have some more things to add this week including some class/race conversions, some new equipment, some new feats and perhaps a few other odds and ends. Post your submissions in our forums. It does not have to be something you made for Pathfinder specifically as many things do not even require conversion! If it does we will work on it!

So ive decided to create my first proper non hack n' slash campaign. My first campaign was 10 levels of sheer death. Being very inexperienced I learnt that it can getvery boring just killing things for a few hours with no plot after weeks;this time ive created a plot for thestory line and im going to blog how I do it. The new campaign is going to be split in to 3 parts: The 1st part will be Discovery (the heroic tier), it will be introducing the plot to the characters, keeping the story quite vague but enough to get them intrested; they will be learning about the world they are playing in. The players will be getting more comfortable with there characters nearer the end of this section and will be learning more and more about the campaign ahead. The 2nd part will be Action (the ...

Chances are if your like me you have garnered quite a collection of Role-playingbook over the years. It is even possible like me you do not like the idea of getting rid of your old books even if you upgrade (or even downgrade) to a different edition of Dungeons and Dragons. On occasion you may even pick up older books (Basic, Expert, AD&D) to peek through. |
