Finally I'm able to plan my first D&D 4th edition session and the upcoming campaign set in Faerûn. I'm curious whether my players will like the setting or not. I know them as players and friends for nearly three years and have to fear their lust for hack'n'slash adventures...
The action will start in media res near Loudwater in an goblin ambush set to rob the mercant who give the PCs a ride to the city...
Followed by a *cough* cinematic interlude presentig the main antagonist: Malcer Xanad II., the self-named son of the Netheril archwizard Xanad who lived during the Age of Discovery, who seeks old arcane secrets of Eaerlann and the dwarven arcane college Xothol... ^^
Meanwhile the PCs will -hopefully- taking the quest to the Barrow of the Oger King and stumble across the stepping disks, which

The beginnings of a character concept I'd like to play. Would work best in 3.5

Lost in a City

Tarenil, or Tare as he preferred to be called, stood in the shadow cast by the building, taking a last look at the ship he was brought in on. Wrists and ankles still scarred and chaffed by the shackles that had held him for the trip.

The slaver guard had made one mistake. But thats why Tare planned to escape on his watch. A careless guard made things easier. "mind a little privacy while I answer natures call?" As usual, the guard turned his back. The chain on the shackles made for a good garrotte. The loop of chain went around the guards neck and pulled tight before he could react or make a sound. Tare turned and put his shoulder in to the guards back and lifted him from the ground, and

An assassin's work typically requires one to work the "late" shift. So usually I get up at noon; enjoy a hearty breakfast served by Gelmy, my twin brother's lackey. Whom I verbally condescend to remind him of his place in our small organization.

Well, looks like I went and broke the PCs.  Down in the well they battled a bone dragon, and pushed ahead to the source of the corruption, a vampire who referred to himself as the Master.  He didn't mention of what though.  The graveyard, the undead, Snow?  Apparently M'Rhys was in that list, because he betrayed the party during the fight with the Master and his Spawn.  The party managed to get spread out and picked off one by one.  On the bright side, they got to join the Master's army of undead in their conquest of the city.  On the down side, Stonal's group sent them to their final rest.
"Now who's the fool?" Stonal chuckled, belching down on Snow's gaunt yet shaggy corpse.
"Still you, little fool of a brother" whispered Donal with a heavy sigh as he gathered up the remains of the

I gave a reading and signed books last night at the University Book Store for my novel City of Torment. Photography by Erin Evans (author of soon to be released FR novel, the God Catcher). My fellow reader was Jak Koke, author of Edge of Chaos.

I've attempted to add a couple photos of the event, not sure if they've attached.

Session 5:
1) PC’s discover the cage the slaves are being kept in, built into a ruined room, the doorway disguised by hanging vines and plant overgrowth. They free the children and escort them home along the river.

2) The PC’s are greeted by Leofin the water guardian they had previously encountered. He thanked them for purging the bandits from his river and gifted the PC’s with a boon; they found there weapons covered with a thin magical frost and he offered them the word ‘River.’

3) He also asked that they attempt to track down any remains or ancestors of his Elven tribe that may still live in the area. He believes with the current activity of bandits and increasing monster numbers they may still be laying low in the area.

4) Returning to there church-in-progress Goliath who was

This is my first blog post on the Wizards D&D community site. I have no idea who, if anyone, will ever read this. I don't even know why I writing this. I guess it's probably because I'm at work with no projects to work on and I'm bored.

Right now the only thing I can think of to write about is the progress on my latest Living Forgotten Realms module. The code for the module is currently EAST2-3, but the title has not yet been announced so I'll refrain from mentioning it here. EAST2-3 is a Level 11-14 module. As I have yet to receive any official deadline on this project, I am not even sure when it is going to be released, but I suspect that it will be in the 1st Quarter of 2010.

I've been extraordinarily busy with my day job at Bally Technologies and that's put a halt to my module development

Having never played a Living campaign, I decided to try out the Weekend in the Realms (version 2) happening on November 6-8.  I sanctioned the event, printed out the materials (though my printer seemed to insist on mis-printing the booklet format of the adventure and swapped the Dwarf-Dragonborn and Halfling-Eladrin character front and backs around), and showed up on the designated day.  Unfortunately, I was the only one to show up.
The problem, from what I have found, was that although I had poured my own resources into getting ready for this event, apparently WPN had decided to go minimalist.  The Event Locator did not show any D&D events when searched for, though it happily showed every shop in the area hosting a Magic event (and included WitR down in the "Other Events" section at

Session 4 Continued. NEW SHORT FORMAT!:

1) Derek rode on the cart with the Zelbross bandit posted at the pier, Alain was tucked up back in a crate. They arrived at a ruin the bandits had made there base, a few more bandits emerged and helped unpack they gave Derek a quick glance but didn’t pay him much head. They had work to do and started unpacking the ‘cargo.’

2) They dropped the cargo including Alain into there vault. “There bound , so we’ll transfer them to the cages later. Here’s your money.” says one of the bandits chucking a bag of 200 silver pieces into Derek’s lap. “Want to see the boss before you leave?”  “Nah, we’re down here. He knows how to contact me. Besides got my cash.” Derek bluffs. The bandit just being a lackey doesn’t take the conversation
