Frankly, I've never understood the call for "rules for roleplaying" in an RPG. Roleplaying seems like it should be something that happens between the rules. 4E's streamlined simple rules with exceptions leave more time for RP, and yet people complain. Well, with the latest books, and especially the DMG2 there are now plenty of rules for RP as well as DM tools to encourage it in 4th edition.
Backgrounds- The addition of Backgrounds and the rule based bonus that go with them insure that virtually all PC's will choose a background for the character creation bonus. The background suggestions being offered in most new books give even the most unimaginative player seeds to work with. As soon as you as a DM toss elements of a PC's background into an adventure, RP naturally occurs.

So we have all seen it, games just flutter out of existence. If you have not you are one of the lucky ones out there. I am about to tell you about something that is bothering me, I have run several great sessions of Star Wars and I think I lost my drive to run it.
I was all jazzed up the week of our last session, I had things planned, moderately prepared to run the game. I had most of my Mini's sorted and ready to go. Characters were updated and the day came and all I could think about was how they were all going to react to things I did in the game.
Normally I run my Star Wars Legacy campaign with six players, who are.

Some friends of mine have been requesting that I run a 4e game for them. One of them hasn't played since 2nd edition, the others have either dabbled in 3.5 or been hardcore 3.5 players. So I wrote up a mini adventure that could be finished in a single night (4 hours tops) as a learning game to get everyone, including myself, more familiar with 4th edition rules. I decided to go with a holiday theme since holloween is so close.
But before the game could begin, we had to write up four characters. The players already knew what they wanted. The two most experienced players finished sections of their characters before anyone else and without me even asking, Began helping the other players do the same sections! This cycle continued until all the characters were finished and I, as the DM, barely...

Spirits of Eden might be just the thing you're looking for. It's my campaign setting, put on the web via Creative Commons (BY-NC-ND) and basically donationware. It's consistently updated and tweaked thanks to user feedback and thanks to my constant quest for new and interesting things to do. It has new class powers, feats, paths and epic destinies. If you enjoy, you can pay for my lunch tomorrow! Or not, it's up to you.

So I had been trying since my last blog post to figure out what to write about. I think Word has about 3 drafts that I have given up on and will probably never delete LOL. Anyway I was playing with the DDI Adventure Tools, Monster Builder as I am thinking of running a 4e campaign if my friends 3.5 ends after we play on the 26th of this month. I am still saying its going to be a TPK but you just never know. I say yes because the group wants to play 4e.
Anyway I love the dragonborne as do the rest of my friends, and I wanted some minions of Sellswords to be a sore spot for my group if I do run it. I am a Dragon lover and what is Dungeons and Dragons without Dragons? Dungeons, boring ones at that.
So here is the base Sellsword
For a level 2 monster he is pretty tough and if I went after my...
