So, as most of you reading this will have known WotC put out the second playtest packet a few weeks ago and they (thankfully) managed to avoid the mess with the distribution that dogged the release of the first playtest packet. Dutifully - no, EAGERLY, I downloaded the new packet and planned the next playtest session with the intention of seeing just how 'pick-up-and-play' the game could be. What follows is an overview of the players, the game session and some of the more important feedback that my playtest session created. Much of this blog post will be broken down and placed in the relevant forums later.

Well, it has been one of those back to the grindstone kind of days. Now that the testing of Assassin's of Ordenell is complete, it is time to finish up Mordakai's Madness. to which I must say the feedback we got from Assassin's had a lot of influence in the edits we have done.
Now I have to ask a questions, but first the reason for this question. I like to write, I enjoy coming up with stories. When I make my home campaigns I try to make it flow like a story or movie. With that said, I want to know what Players and DMs feeling are on storylines. I generally start with the storyline and add a little with each encounter. I use the story to give the PCs something to imagine, but try not to overwhelm them. the first 2 or 3 pages are story line ...

Well, finished the last session of Assassin's of Ordenell, I took it to the extreme and made the assassins all minion, but there was a catch. The minion exploded when they were killed. It made the players think and caused a lot of second guessing until they decided to just smash through them.
We got great feedback from everyone that participated and a great deal of thanks goes out to everyone. For those that particpated send me a message with your name so we can give you credit for all that you have done. Keep a watch, I am going to start testing Mordakai's Madness in a few weeks and it will be on an odd schedule due to my odd schedule. There will also be a marathon session with it as well. Kauldron

So we have been working on publishing an campaign, but we need some feedback on what we have. We would like to see if our design format is usable for other DMs. It is a format I have used for years and we are curious if it will translate well into published adventures.
With that said, we have a single encounter that we would like others to playtest. it will be in pdf format. Starting tomorrow June 1, 2012 we will send out upto 10 copies to whoever would like to take a look at it and play test it. We do want some honest feedback on it. If you are interested send an email to: chalvarez@geekcorpsproductions.com

I just created an organization for all you DM's and players alike. I call it The League of the Arcane. The template used is the one found in DM's guide 2 (page 165).
The League of the Arcane(known as the White Claw to nonmembers) Goal: The league seeks to master the arcane arts, but do not share their discoveries with the world, as they see the world as a group of pathetic mortals who wish only to misuse such power. They also wish to locate a rare tablet that is said to grant powers of unimaginable strengh to who ever reads it. Stated Goal: The league hide the fact they study magic. to outside members, they are a simple merchants guild offering to sell adventuring gear. Size: There are around 1000 members, but they operate only in the city of...

So I was talking to a fellow DM and I asked him "are their any characters you want to run but probably won't have the time to do so?
He told me he always wanted to play an eladrin swordmage that was just like Captian Hammer from DR. Horrible's sing along. Haughty, hubric, and all around douchebag, but loves being the hero. When He asked me and I responded with" I want to play an elven bladesinger based off of indigo montoya from the prince's bride. just some completely and shamelessly dead drunken warrior that you would politely ignore on a good day but come to love and is perhaps the world's (plane's) best swordsman, oh and he is looking for a man with a lesser or greater number of phallanges than normal who murdered a paternal figure in his life. I've heard of characters...

OVERALL GOAL: PROVOKE JUDGEMENT & PARTICIPATION FROM PLAYERS
1. Put players into their characters' bodies. Show; never tell. Observations are clues, not answers. The DM is a window, not a character. Because players learn thru what they are shown, describe succinctly as many separate specifics as you can about what the PCs perceive going on around them. This gives the players something with which to work. Avoid multiple specifics about the same thing to avoid slow-down; if the PCs want to know more, they will inspect further. Making the world alive: A. Avoid game terms (ie hit, damage, hp) and automatically naming things encountered. B. Describe using multiple senses. C. Everything has an adjective (be evocative) D. Emphasize what is different about...
