Hi my name is Ace.

I recently joined this forum, mainly because I had a very special idea.

What do you think an Magic the Gathering MMO would sound?

I mean the Multiverse has so much potential for an MMO.

- It has hours worth reading of lore.
- A whole universe with different planes.
- Different Classes, races, countries, factions etc.
- A rarity system, which could be used on monsters and items.

Just to mention a few.

I would imagine the game would be like, you could play as 5 different factions, one for each colour of mana, and that faction would be, if we look at the Mirrodin Saga ie., Elves for green, Goblins for red, Vedalkens for blue, Leonin for white, Nim for black. Then you could pick a class like, soldier, warrior, archer, wizard, druid, shaman etc. Already here I think we have a good ...

I am looking for players interested in learning a relatively new game called Microscope.  It's a fractal history game played out using "notecards" and roleplay attributes - though the rp may be cut out for most of the online play.  If anyone is interested contact me or join the "microscope prezi" group.

Once again I take a crack at evaluating the D&D website. You can read my first two critiques here and here

Setting the Bar

What would the perfect D&D website do?

  • Hub. It should be the center of the D&D community and the game.
  • Information. It should educate players old and new and old.
  • News. This includes reporting the latest information, hosting press releases and reports of large events, in addition to offering information on the game and game products.
  • Marketing. It should be an advertising tool, a place to hype new products and sell books.
  • Multiple-Platforms. The website should be navigable and usable on PCs, Macs, Netbooks, tablets, and smartphones.

When someone first hears of this strange game called "Dungeons & Dragons", which is a game without winners or losers,

Do you or anyone you know live outside the areas in which D&D Encounters is offered?

Do you live on an overseas military base or in Asia without access to some good RPGs?

Does your local hobby store not offer to host D&D Encounters?

Here's a solution:

Visit dungeons & donuts to see how you can play the current season of D&D Encounters (The Elder Elemental Eye) online in a variety of timezones convenient to you!

Again, visit dungeons & donuts for all the details.

Spaces are filling up quickly, so don't delay.       ...

Like many I've been reading the posts on fifth edition, or D&D next, or whatever, and becoming cautiously optimistic.  But one thing I haven't seen spoken of is how computers should be used with the game.

With the advent of tablets in the last few years the ability to have computers be intregral to the D&D experience has been ramped up considerably.  Desktops are constraining, laptops tend to get in the way but tables and phones are more managable.  The idea of computer tools is hardly new and stretches back to 2nd edition. But then, and even now its a bit of a tack on.  3e tools where hard to manage at best and never really materialized.  4e's DDI is something I've never tried because of my grave dislike of that system.  The only thing I can say about it is...

The Doctor (our awesome coder) has finished the character creation section of our game and I would like for people to stop by and test the system out.  We are not officially open for roleplaying/the campaign yet, but should be within the next couple of weeks.

If you know how to connect to telnet, point your telnet client to: darksunmush.dune.net:6250.

If you do not know how to connect to a text based environment, well then I guess I should post a quick tutorial on how to do so... and here it is:

If you are using Windows as your operating system, go to the following webpage and download MUSHclient (there are other telnet applications out there, I just find MUSHclient the easiest to initially use): www.gammon.com.au/downloads/dlmushclient...

MUSHclient is a freeware telnet application

This week I played in a couple of drafts out of a desire for more cards with a chance of profit.

Well, I'm still bad at drafting.  My gameplay decisions are getting better, but my deckbuilding and especially my drafting skills still have a long way to go.

On the upside, I did build up my collection and if we base earnings on market value, then my drafting has at least been profitable.  I've made more in card value than I have paid to play in the drafts.

I know this luck only goes so far and at some point, the only real profitable way to draft is to actually, you know, draft properly.

In my first draft of the week I went ROE.  The typical bot price for ROE packs is 3.55 each (so 10.65 Tickets for a draft set) and drafting is 2 tickets entry fee, so 13 Tickets.
