Ravenloft Contest Winners

While we’ve notified the Ravenloft Board Game contest winners directly, I wanted to announce them here as well. First off, many thanks for everyone who took the time to enter; the scenarios were excellent and brought an enormous amount of creativity to the game. The decisions were not easy, but the 3 winners are:

Kevin G. for Skull of Necromancy
Greg F. for A Hero Lost
Dwayne S. for Curses!

Gift Guide to Geek Books

'Twas the night before Christmas, when through the black hole
Not a fanboy or girl was stirring, not even a troll;
The MacBooks were placed near the wifi with care,
In hopes that St. Geekolas soon would be there.

Have you been a good little geek this year? Have you kept your PS3 and XBox consoles all shiny and neat? Did you get all

Here we are in the final days of December—and just added to the calendar is a little Gamma World holiday bonus we put together. From the introduction:

Gamma Terra is a strange place—on that, I believe, we can all agree. In the past, laser-eyed reindeer and a maniacal, robotic Santa have been perpetrated on unsuspecting gamers (by no less than James M. Ward himself). In the spirit of Gamma World and holiday frivolity, we venture to the great northern wastes of Canada, ay?, where you can find a certain workshop—and duly invade it.

We explored Rankin Bass’s Island of Misfit Toys several years ago as a D&D-themed encounter. This time, we decided that a Gamma World approach—and a factory of misfit Omega Tech—fit the theme even better.

It’s the holidays,

Hi folks,

I wanted to chime in with some news, reviews, and announcements from around the D&D website. We’ve been publishing this material as website articles, but I’d like to experiment with moving some of this material over the community blogs as well.

IDW: Dungeons & Dragons Comic

Just sharing the love, for the first issue of the comic! More reviews have been posted, and they’ve been fairly glowing:

Upcoming Interviews

I’m also glad to announce a couple of interviews in the works. The first is with Jennifer Shiman—which is a name you’re familiar with, if you’re familiar with 30-Seconds Bunnies Theater (and if you’re

Happy All Hallows All!

And a look back over what was written in October.  What would people like to see in November?

Recently, WotC changed the look of their website. You might now be familiar with this:

Now, this is not the first time WotC has overhauled their site. We saw a massive update to the site for DDI in the spring, which I reviewed here

My problem with the old site was the lack of news and announcement on D&D and the like of content for anyone but subscribers. I'll actually directly quote my old introduction:

What should a good D&D website do? It should be the hub of the game and community. It should inform players both new and old, reporting the newest information on the game, hosting press releases and reports of large events, as well as offering information on the game and game products. It should be a marketing tool, a gaming accessory, and information platform.

When a brand new player

Looking back over August and towards September

As usual, this is your chance (though you really can do this at any time) to tell me what you would like to see on the design journal.
