I'm incredibly bored. I can't sleep. I refuse to study (but I'll still make A's), and I'm seriously addicted to playing magic and listening to AFI. At the same time, or separately. I also noticed a surprising (to me) amount of traffic on my initial "for the sake of fun/boredom" blog post, so here we go again. So, my last entry displayed a relatively untested standard format UW control deck that hadn't really faced a wide variety of matchups. I'd only been thinking about said matchups in the abstract. As it turns out, I am still only thinking about most of them in the abstract. One of these days I will get out to an FNM and see what the players are like around here. Speaking of "around here," a friend picked up mtg again just recently (I guess my talk of modern, innistrad, and just ...

My little sister wanted to place her deck list on here so that she can get help. I told her to refine the amount of creatures she had. This is just so we can show some friends and get input. She everntually wants a red/white dragon based deck... This is what she has now: Creatures 1 x [c]Inquisitor Exarch[/c] Spells/Abilities 1 x [c]Solemn Offering[/c]

So, the most recent incarnation of my (vain) attempt at a Standard format UW control still feels a little underwhelming. I'm trying to design it so that I have answers to the strong aggro that is available in the format. I'd also like it if it were competitive against some things like Extended format Jund and any kind of deck that runs Flying creatures. Hopefully this incarnation has enough answers that I can, at the very least, hold my own in those kind of match-ups. The List: Instants/Sorceries: 4 [c]Mana Leak[/c] Enchantments: 3 [c]Oblivion Ring[/c] Creatures: 4 [c]Griffin Sentinel[/c]

Hello all. Last time I talked about the colours of mana in my deckbuilding experiences, next I'll talk about what I call "Ace Cards" [which pretty much are just what I call my favorite cards]. Ace Cards are your really good cards that help 'ya win. I'm not talking about an obvious Chandra Ablaze or Sorin Markov, I mean good cards that tend to be up to mythic rare without being legendary, maybe even just rare or common. If your "Ace Card" is a Doom Blade or a Go for The Throat, then there's some issues. I've noticed they tend to be a Permanent or a Sorcery, something that can either do tons of damage or keep all your creatures alive. Some of mine include: Overwhelming Stampede, a Sorcery that gives ALL your creatures trample and +X/+X, X is the highest power among the creatures out, so ...

Well, I guess I've made a deckbuilding blog. I guess I'll go through some of my ups downs struggles and accomplishments in this. This post is about the different colours and my struggles or triumphs with each. I got started probably last year around the time Scars of Mirrodin was still in. Before truly getting into it I decided I'd start with Green. What's so hard about getting a giant wurm to smash things? So I got the Path of Blight Green/White deck, jumping straight into Infect. Infect was okay, but other than one other guy I know I'm the only one I'm aware of that likes infect. So I got a 2011 Core Set fat pack(?) with all the colours. After lots of deck editing trials and errors and lots of help from friends, I made my own custom-built-from-scratch deck, which I like to call "Roar ...

This is a basic deck designed to draw cards, control your opponents spell casting abilities while burning their life and creatures away. It's cheap to build and a great starter deck for anyone looking to build a deck with punch and power. [DECK] 4 AEther Adept

The key to this deck is to combine [card]Massacre Wurm[/card] with [card]Terastodon[/card] in one fell swoop when you replace all your [card]Myr Artifact Creature[/card]s using [card]Mass Polymorph[/card]. If you can replace 5 [card]Myr Artifact Creature[/card] in turn 5 (even if your near 0 health or 10 poison) the Wurms will give you a win! I added [card]Elspeth Tirel[/card] for more tokens and life and [card]Jace Beleren[/card] for the draws to get my [card]Mass Polymorph[/card] out. If you draw a creature, return it to the library with a [card]See Beyond[/card]. [DECK] 4 Massacre Wurm |
