Greetings and Salutations all.. Its Mother's Day today, so I'd like to start this week's blog with a big shout out to all the gamer moms out there.. On behalf of all the other children, siblings, or spouses of you cool gamer moms, we thank you for everything that you do for us.. Or at least for putting up with us..

This week, I'd like to focus on one of the current "trends" in MMOs.. Known as the "dynamic event", the current incarnation of this game mechanic can be seen in such games as Warhammer Online, Rift, Defiance, and Guild Wars 2..
In essence, these events are pretty much just a public quest.. Any number of players can arrive on the scene of said event and participate, with the difficulty scaling up or down according to that number of players..
 As I recall, Warhammer...

Greetings and Salutations all.. As most in the MMO community know, the search for the next great game is always a topic of heated debate.. And while few points are rarely ever agreed upon, one in particular always stands out.. Whatever the new game may be, it can't be a clone of what they just left..
In this week's blog, I'd like to throw in my own opinion on that topic and point out both the good and the bad about game clones..

The most obvious example of the above stated sentiment is, of course, World of Warcraft.. For the last eight years, there can be little doubt that WoW has truly dominated the industry..
World of Warcraft introduced MMO gaming to the masses by featuring a mostly bug-free gameplay experience, tons of lore-based content, and easy-to-run-on-any-computer...

Greetings and Salutations all.. Its that time again, where I sit down in front of the old computer and compose my thoughts to you about everything I have been scheming.. This week's topic.. The great debates that have long been going on about MMOs in general and what I will and won't be doing for mine..

One of the things I often hear among players in MMO forums is the "sandbox vs theme park" debate.. The "sandbox" style is focused on allowing players a high degree of freedom to do what they want, when they want.. The theme park style puts the players on a linear track, but with lots of content along the way..
This turned out to be an easy decision for me, and I very quickly decided to focus on a predominantly "sandbox" game with some elements of "theme park" to keep character ...

Greetings and Salutations all.. So, after a week of working on my little project, I'm back again.. This time around, I am going to tell you a little bit about what inspired me to turn the Magic: The Gathering card game into an MMO..

Over the last few years, I have attempted to convert several games into MMOs.. On the drawing board, they always looked great and really seemed to fill a niche that was missing or expound on an existing idea.. But in the end, none of those earlier attempts really broke new ground..
The first such attempt was one, for those who know me, as expected.. Dungeons and Dragons of course.. When D&D Online came out, I eagerly jumped into it and was thoroughly underwhelmed.. I remember vividly thinking to myself "Is this all they could come up with? With eighty-five...

Greetings and Salutations all.. As this will be my first blog entry, I figured I would start off with a little bit about my own history in gaming..

The first game I ever played was Dungeons and Dragons.. In 1980, My father went out and bought the Advanced D&D boxed set and introduced me to a world that I have never truly left..
He assembled his group of players from those he knew from work.. All of them either NASA employees or their wives.. All of them, amazingly talented in their fields.. I was the youngest player (age 8) in a group of adults.. A tiny sapling among titanic redwoods..
My father took on the roll of Dungeon Master and eagerly led his players, his wife, and his young son into the amazing world of Greyhawk.. We delved deeply into dungeons, fought the allied ...

if you want some serious mana ramping at a cost, get yourself a few [c]Phyrexian Altar[/c], its one of my favorite artifacts because you can fill your deck with low cost creatures, and then a playset of [c]Essence of the Wild[/c], heres how a nice game would play out in my mind:

1--- play a  a land, then a 1 cost creature like a [c]Llanowar Elves[/c] or a [c]Birds of Paradise[/c]
2--- play another land, then play either [c]Phyrexian Altar[/c] or 3 more 1 cost creatures
3--- play a land if you can, then proceed to tap all you land, sacrifice all creatures you dont wanna keep (non-mana producing ones) and cast [c]Essence of the Wild[/c]
4--- tap your mana producers and all the land, then if you can and want to, sacrifice the mana producers to give you...

[c]Burning Wish[/c] is a GREAT card, for 2 mana, it allows you to get any card you OWN into your hand, well a sorcery, but still. and the advantage of that beyond the obvious things it you can take any sorcery of any card you own, and put that in your hand. its kinda like sideboarding in a card, but instead of putting it in you deck, if goes right to your hand! all for 2 mana!!!

[c]Shahrazad[/c] now, shes 50$ right now, i dont think shes worth that, but shes a crazy card, it gives you a chance to take your opponents life down to half their life total when you play this card... if she is in you or your opponents deck, be prepared to play a lonnnnnnggggggggg game.

Hey so i havnt poseted in a few days so im gonna do a few this mornin.

ok, so [c]Blood Moon[/c], i havnt ever played a legacy or vintage game, but im making a deck right now to get into it, but from what i hear, EVERYONE uses the original dual lands.... and i dont like that, so on turn 3, i can get out my [c]Blood Moon[/c] and stop those dualies, this card is especially good when youre facing a deck that doesnt have any red in there, then you opponent cant even cast his spells! and my legacy/vintage deck is a mono red goblins, and with [c]Goblin King[/c] givin all my goblins Mountainwalk, theyre all unblockable now :)
