Well it was pretty fun for my 1st Gamma World adventure.

I was nervous about remembering much of the rules in the heat of the moment, but I was amazed at how I kept combat going.

I used voices where I thought they were needed when I would act out the NPCs, made many chuckle. Laughing

They did their best to make combat fluid in 4E, so it’s not all about stats and flipping through books. More about focusing on the moment and letting the player enjoy their heroes.

First battle we did I was impressed with Noah. He was catching on quick.

He was remembering bloodied foes and would direct the noobs on who they should attack to dwindle down their enemies number faster.

Had one dude who wanted to act like a frenzied killing machine. Ran into combat,

I am curious if other GMs(DMs) ever use music in their adventures?

I have always enjoyed the method that Stephen King used to introduce a chapter in some of his books, where he would quote a song that would fit with the story line.

For example I am currently running a Gamma World adventure and used Blue Oyster Cult's song 'Veterans of the Psychic Wars' as my players were all assembled to play.
The song was to get their attention to let them know we were beginning, and alos if they listened to the lyrics, they would get the gist of some of the game's timeline and history.

The story starts at the end of the Psychic Wars and the players find themselves in a make-shift tavern where destiny is about to bring them all together.

So today I was able to get Metamorphosis Alpha in physical book form from Lulu!!!

Beats $50.00 or more on ebay for a beat copy!!  I have a PDF, but I like to have a real one too!

I never had this game back in the day, and only heard tales of it in Dragon magazine. I did get Best of Dragon vol2. I believe and it had some great MA stuff in it that took my Gamma World games in all new directions!!

Oh yeah, waking up naked in the Clone Chamber, then getting attacked my mutants with pointy sticks and metal pipe fittings!  Some of my High School buddies still haven't forgivin me for that night!!!

Any way, if you'd like to throw a spin on your GW4e game, then pick up the PDF at RPGNOW or Drivethru RPG and with the space stuff in the Legion of Gold book you could really run something pretty...

The ruin fish were easily routed after Demon finished chainsawing the largest one into a gory mess.

A bit more scavenging of the MART turned up a snazzy orange reflective vest for Von Schtupp.

The wagon was loaded and they returned to the village of Lake-Pa and an eager Shadar. It was late afternoon as the party and the Junk merchant seperated the goods they had found when a group of children ran by yelling it was "almost time", and "hurry, or we won't get a good seat".

Shadar said it was time to close for the afternoon festivities. He led the party to a set of home-made bleachers set up along the southern wall of the village. A ragged man was taking bets from others as the paerty seated themselves. "It should be here any minute." said Shadar as he seated himself and looked to the south west....

Shadar's directions had been hastily scrawled on an old leather hide. Following the the old "Ave" west out of town to "Ol' dix", then a bit south to a "silver street", then west again and the group emerged from the overgrown bush into the ruins of a place called "MART".

The weed choked field in front of the large building was filled with rusted hulks of vehicles from time long past. There were two entrances to the ruin. the northern entrance was blocked by a mountain of shopping carts stacked and strung together with old cable and barb-wire.

The southern entrance looked clear. Me-mow scouts out the north entrance and using her "radiohead Alpha" tells the group it is blocked.

While Demon and Spectra settle the horses, Von Schtupp meets me-mow at the south entrance. Me-mow scurries up an clings...

As a kid comics like this:

and the Planet of the Apes movies, and Logan's Run movie and TV show had a big hold on my brain.  Then I found this one day while visiting the Paperback Booksmith in my local mall. Hoping to score a new AD&D item I am bewildered by:

LORDS OF LIGHT!!!!!!  By Thundarr's SUNSWORD  my RPG prayers were answered!!! It was late '83 early '84 when this fell into my hands!  This version is by far my favorite.  And I alwys find myself drifting back to it.  Currently I'm working on updating a version of the adventure booklet to GW4e.

Watch out!...

Let's meet our cast:

Me-mow, the Felinoid/Miniature origins. The Miniature Origin was pulled from the Forum created origins. She is played by my daughter, and according to her Me-mow is a member of a Secret Society called "GOA" or "Guild Of Assassins". Is this Secret Society real or just imagined in the feverish kitties brain.... we shall see.

Von-Shtupp, a Radioactive/Mind Coercer. This human sized super intelligent Lab Rat claims to be seeking his long lost lab partner, a Doctor Lily Von-Shtupp. She disappeared after the events of the "Big Mistake".
He is played by group member: MikeB43.

Demon, a Hawkoid/Pyrokinetic. This mutant has no "real" name that we know of. He claims to hail from a reality where "HEAVY METAL" is ALL! He seeks only to spread the gospel of "METAL" to the inhabitants ...

Shadar the trader flipped his closed sign to open, and parted his Spongebob curtains to reveal his much too meager wares. Business needed a boost and it looked like things were perking up.

Four wanderers were awaiting the traders call to barter, and they looked ripe for adventure as well. A human sized rat in a scruffy lab coat paced back and forth in front of a red wagon with a canoe balanced on top. Shadar couln't help but notice how the rat-man covetously eyed a slighty scracthed and dinged laptop computer that was leaning on the lower step of his trading post. It was then Shadar realized the laptop was not alone, a small 4-6 week old kitten was staring back at the rat as it flexed very sharp claws in and out of its tiny paws.

"I don't need a wagon Rat! I travel on paw and through the ...
