*** This campaign uses the Tomb of Horrors adventure book, adapted to the setting. ***

OOC: Since I could not be present, one of the others kept me up to date through twitter....

gulerin Waiting in the tavern for a guide to take us to the trolls. He just arrived... #dnd

gulerin Our guide will be the 12yo grand daughter. It's gonna be a baby-sitting troll slaying fest. #dnd

gulerin We need to climb some mountains. Something I'm very good at... #dnd

gulerin Climbing didn't go so well. We failed our skill challenge.#dnd

OOC: Jokul also wrote down a more elaborate journal on the events where as mentioned before Barstj and Nuryam are not present...

While we are on our way to the mysterious Temple of Rilni to find out more about the attempts to corrupt feywild realms, trolls seem to think of us as a nice catch. Suddenly we find ourselves surrounded by five of the brutes. One shaman-like, one really big and others average big with extra sharp fangs. Jokul confirms we are up against trolls and informs us we will require acid and fire damage to lay them low once and for all. A good challenge to try out the powers we unlocked in ourselves during our stay in the Fey realm (OOC our first paragon level combat is about to ensue).

Without going into too many details, the fight was pretty hard. The trolls grabbed multiple people and dealt great damage

OOC: Our DM decided to take us back to the moment we killed the vine-creature and flesh out the events that follow it. May sound strange to some, but it makes sense. He told us the material rewards and that we had levelled so we could update the character builder for this session. Also he needed to know what general direction we would go to prepare the next part of the story. The immaterial rewards and insight into the Fey realm are not transferred in two lines. So this journal entry describes the events that follow our hard fought victory.

Defeating the creatures left us in a mess. But still the lady was not in this room. A large door stood slightly ajar. While the others recuperated and debated

Since the last journals above and the present (July 2010) we have played on a regular basis with the same group. We are about to enter wonderful world of the paragon paths and our kind DM (Madfox11) has decided to plunge us into the 4th edition version of Tomb of Horrors… The adventure has been adapted to fit into the BirthRight setting that our campaign is set in. Innocent

I intend to keep this journal updated as much as possible. It will contain spoilers of Tomb of Horrors. Please keep in mind that this journal is written from the perspective of Nuryam (the aloof Eladrin Wizard I play) and his advisor; a mighty mad wizard who is currently imprisoned in Nuryam’s mind. I am SURE the other players see things differently (obviously they are wrong).

What transpired between this and the previous

DMs Notes: The last three sessions were a bit of an interlude. Due to various circumstances (including GenCon) I did not had all that much time to prepare. I also has hoped that the PCs would be 7th level by now, but they were still about 900 xp short. Luckily, in 4E it can be relatively easy to quickly put something together. So a large group of goblin raiders made life difficult while the PCs were back on their way to Aulbrunn. I also used the opportunity to show the players how powerful their characters have become. The six of them defeated over 80 goblins and hobgoblins, personally

[DM Note: All players were present this time.]
With the defeat of the Hell-Caller, the hunters had the freedom to investigate the room. Behind the statue they found a small room with stairs leading down into the big statue room. In the past it probably was used by the leaders of the stronghold to prepare their speeches, now it is the sleeping room for the Hell-Caller and leader of the demon-dwarves. Besides treasure though there is no information on the demon-dwarves or the reasons for their presence in the stronghold. The hunters also find two more doors behind the steel curtains

[DM note: the player of Nuryam was not present during this session.]

Not wanting to wait at the gates, but fearing a meeting with the spider in their current condition, the Hunters contemplate alternative paths. It doesn't take much time to conclude that neither climbing up, nor climbing down is a real option, but more importantly, they fear what would happen if the demon dwarves do catch up while climbing. So instead they follow the path out of the canyon, trusting that the spider is going to respect their earlier agreement even though they are not at their full strength.

[DM Note: It has been some time since I posted an update. We have not played that much due to vacations and conventions, but still, besides the session below, two more to go. All players were present.]

There are few dry spots in the cavern, but the Hunters are convinced it is a save place and despite the obvious discomforts they set up camp for a long rest. During the rest they hear a strange grating sound echoing from the hole in the ceiling. At first they fear the demon-dwarves trigger the flooding mechanism, but since no water is coming forward, they realize it is something
