Well I know I am old school, well as old school as one can get without beging the designers and creators of D&D (the real, original D&D.) 

Rangers...

Inspired by JRR Tolkien's Aragorn, a Ranger.  a Ranger was, has been, and always will be to me a warrior who ranges the world, defending people from evil in both the wilderness and civilization.  A ranger is NOT called a ranger because (s)he uses "ranged weapons."

That is why I will continue to play earliier editions of "D&D" 

People in the past have complained about Gary Gygax's misuse of mythological names.  However, I find the misuse of language in general far more offensive.  Orium dragon?  What is this dragon, a dragon shaped like an auditorium?  Or maybe a crematorium?  That's it.  It has a fiery breath weapon to boot, I am sure.

Those of you, in the recent past who complained about the entymology of creature names, from past editions, I hope to hear a cacophony from you about this murderous misuse of latin!  Shame on the editorial staff for even daining to allow such misuse of language.

For those of you who will say, "Get over it it is just a game."  Think about this.  Many games also play to some degree an educational role.  And while Gygax's mixed-up mythologies may have offended many people to some degree, it did bring into the American lexicon some great European mythological creatures, to which many people desided to research further.  By naming a Metallic Dragon a latin word part which means nothing remotely related to metal hurts the game and educational uses of a game, such as what is now taking the moniker of D&D.
