Why do people think the 3.5 D&D Bard "stinks"

    Monday, May 10, 2010, 11:23 AM

As the title says, the prevailing thought with players is that the Bard "stinks".

Even Chris Perkins on the Robot Chicken podcasts mentioned this.

But in our games, the Bard has shown to be one of the most useful and damage buffing classes.

I intend to write a future article on why the Bard doesnt suck, but for now, I look forward to your comments.

    The Snake Statue Construct

    Sunday, May 9, 2010, 7:32 PM

Crypt of the Devil Lich Spoilers ahead ...

The previous week, two drow vampires were vanquished.  As we went to the coffin of the one, a huge statue of a snake animated and attacked.  It truly is amazing to see how much damage fighter classes can do when they are are doing multiple attacks, hasted, and power attacking.

The snake, which had well over 300 hitpoints, was immune to magic damage, went down in 2 rounds!

After the snake was destroyed, we opened the coffin, and attacked the regenerating vampire with a searing light spell to finish it off.

    Dungeon Crawl Campaign

    Friday, May 7, 2010, 9:13 PM

The Dungeon Crawl Campaign is a long running campaign that I have both played and DM'd in.  I refer to it as The Dungeon Crawl Campaign as most of the adventures have been from Goodman Games Dungeon Crawl Classics line.

The Characters are currently level 16.

    The party consists of

    1) 16 Dwarven Fighter

    2) 16 Human Cleric (My Character)

    3) 6 Cleric / 10 Scout

    4) 14 Rouge / 2 Psion

    5) 16 Bard

    6) 16 Swordmage

My Character - Derick - is a Lawful Nuetral worshiper of Wee / Jas.  This gives him the ability to use magic user type magic items, and he fills that artillery role by using wands or staffs to launch nukes.

The campaign is currently playing in Crypt of the Devil Lich by Goodman Games.
