Garic's CityWhat is Garic's City you might ask? For those that are new, Garic's City is an online play by post game in a persistant world. And in that world is Garic's City, a burgeoning metropolis sitting on the frontier. A 'last stop for civilization' if you will. There are towns beyond it, but they come to the city for protection from the monsters that roam the wilds. Garic's City is home to both noble lords and slum scum, brave adventurers and shadowy figures, pure hearts and dark souls. And you play one of them. Which one doesn't matter, because there's plenty for everyone. It was originated long ago by a DM named shanks, who pitched the idea and got a thread on the message boards before the first overhaul, before the last overhaul too! The position of DM has changed hands many times since then. Shanks handed it off to Shatteredtower and Dajuid. Shatteredtower elevated Scheherazade to co-DM, followed by kneyejailb, to cope with the growing ranks of player characters. Eventually interest or time started petering out until Garic's City was nearly a ghost town. Then Pangur, a ghost from the past, showed up and took over the reigns, breathing some life into the old gal. So, like many a real city, Garic's has experienced player booms and recessions but survived. Unlike most games, some on the PbP boards or on other sites, Garic's City supports an undefined number of characters. During it's height, the city was home to at least 15 steady players and another 15 of the off-and-on variety. So write up a character (the rules are below) and send it to the DM. There's a lot of lore been built up over it's history and there's a lot to talk about. It doesn't matter that the city has at least 8 steady players, there's always room for one more.
