A review of the last 10 posts pre-migration:

Author : Kywyn

Kywyn stares at the steel as Jace examines it.  The dark-haired man shakes his head slightly at the elf.  Stepping forward, Kywyn comes out of the shadowed corner and his outline seems to become more solid again.

Kywyn walks down another aisle, looking at Jace through the maze of steel.

*Jace stays where he stands and watches the strange man appear and dissapear throught the multitude of arms in the racks.*

.oO(I could make the armor for him.  If only I knew how to let him know.)

Kywyn stops at one area, peering through the gap between two lines of blades.

Seeing that Jace is still watching, Kywyn holds an open hand out as if asking what is the elf wanting.

The storekeeper seems to have finished muddling around at the counter and calls out, "You gents finished back there?  I would like to close up soon, maybe we could discuss this tomorrow?"

*Jaces attention is pulled away from Kywyn's guesture by the shop keeper's interjection.  Jace becons for Kywyn to follow him up to the counter. At the counter jace sets his hands down on the unfinished armor. He speaks to the shop keeper.*

"I can finish this armor. I'm a smith at the silver sword.  I think that we can pay for what has been finished on the armor and I can pick it up from there.  This way you will not have so much on your plate."

*Jace turns to The shadowed man to see if he approves.*

"Eh, I guess that works," the merchant shrugs.

Kywyn follows Jace up to the counter but only watches, looking between the counter and the two talking men.

When Jace turns to him, Kywyn tilts his head and holds up his palm again in inquiry.

*Seeing that Kywyn still doesn't know what is going on he casts about for a way to communicate.*

.oO(why can't he just understand what I am saying.)

*Jace picks up the paper and the unfinished armor.*

"I am going to make this for you."

*Holds out the paper for kywyn to see.*

"Buy the pieces and I will put them together for you."

*Jace begins to place the spikes on the leather in the places indicated by the drawing, and he intermittently gestures to himself signaling that he will do it.*

Kywyn glances up from the paper a few times, seeing the elf mime out his intentions.

Eventually, Kywyn nods slowly.  He looks to the armorer behind the counter.  From a pouch, Kywyn starts counting out coins for payment, watching Jace and the merchant for a indication of amount.

*Jace turns to look at the merchant and frowns slightly*

.oO(Mmmm how much...a lot of the work has been done so far.  Around about half of what needs to be done to it for Kywyn's design.)

"I'm thinking about 40 gold for it sir.  About half the work has been done and about all the material needed for the armor is there.  What do you think?"

"I reckon that's about right," the man let's Jace take Kywyn's sketch.

Kywyn places his coins on the table until the merchant indicates the proper payment is there.  Kywyn looks to Jace again, pointing to the elf and the sketch.

*Jace simply nods*

*After the transaction Jace picks up the armor and spikes and becond for Kywyn to follow him.*

Taneli

Taneli steps through the door to the Iron Wolf Armory. He has spent some time finding his way to the store front but when he steps in he is greeted with the sound of iron on iron. He looks for quite a while carefully inspecting all of the weapons and armor on display.

After a while he seems satisfied and approaches whomever seems to be on duty this morning.

"Hello, my name is Taneli. Are you looking for any help at the moment. I would be honored to work iron for this fine establishment.

"Looking for work?"

The young man behind the counter looks like he's a journeyman apprentice, not ready for an anvil of his own yet but experienced enough to be trusted to handle customers on his own.

"Master Coll is in the back looking at a shipment of ore. Go on through and present yourself."

He motions towards a door in the back wall, standing ajar. Taneli can just see a big bull of a man with a handlebar moustache going through several crates of the ore in question, while a dwarf is standing patiently next to him, waiting for the master smith to finish.

Taneli nods his appreciation and heads on back and presents himself to the handlebar mustache. He waits for the man to finish taking a look at the ore and then speaks.

"Master Coll, my name is Taneli Hirvalä. I was told by an aquaintence of mine, Mistress Kilduum, that you might be looking for help here that the armory. In my homeland I was trained in the forging of weapons as part of my magical training. I would be honored to contine to learn here."

He bows slightly and waits for a response.

"You want to learn the trade, hm?"

The smith looks Taneli up and down with piercing blue eyes while he nods at the dwarf, spits in his hand and briefly clasp's his supplier's meaty paw. Nothing more needs to be said, apparently, since the dwarf only returns the nod and walks away.

"You were patient and sensible enough to wait for me to finish my business. That's a good start. You've had some training already, you say. How much do you know then?"

" I can forge swords, axes, maces, spears, pretty much anything that isn't too exotic.  My work is not a master's, but my work is good."

Taneli pulls his puukko from its sheath and turns the hands it halft first to the master smith.

"Although this is a simple example I made a year ago when I broke its predecessor in battle."

Coll accepts the weapon and examines it, specifically gauging the balance and weight.

"An interesting design. Not something I've seen before, but I know a few customers who could be interested. It's nothing subtle, but that's not something most care about. A year ago? Have you done any work since?"

The smith walks over to an anvil where one of the apprentices just finished hammering out the basic shape of a sword and passed it on to a more senior one for the next step in the process. He points at a pile of raw ends of metal.

"Show me how you get started to one of these. You'll find everything you need right here."

Taneli silently inspects the pile of iron ends for one which looks most like a short rod. After spending some time looking for a suitable specimen he the heads over to an available work bench. He unrolls his tool kit and removes a hammer and a set of tongs. Holding the rod into the forge he heats the rod slightly and the heads to the anvil. He proceeds to beat the head of rod flat and begins to shape blade and tang. the side to where the endge will be beginning to slope to a point. Heating the blade as necessary to allow the work to continue. He works efficiently, but deliberatlely.

After a while he cools the iron in a bucket of water and sets the new blade and tang on the workbench, unsharped or halfted but the heart of the knife. He nods to the master smith.
