"... you have arrived at a very opportune moment for me," says Atlavast.

At this moment, as if putting punctuation to Atlavast's words, a sudden darkness flows through the warded archway. As you turn to see what has happened, you see the Netherese man and his guards from Dusk Vallen's shop.

At this, Atlavast, in a tone of disgust says, "Clariburnus Tanthul."

His name uttered, Clariburnus cracks the faintest smile. It seems a foreign expression to the pallid face. Cariburnus is imposing, but more from the way he carries himself than his stature. Just over six feet tall, his slender body is all the more exaggerated by his height, making him seem even more sinewy than otherwise. His pupil-less eyes, however, seem to drink your soul in from own as you lock gazes with him.

Kel, who happens to be standing the closest to the barrier, attracts the Shadow Prince's attention. Clariburnus turns his head ever so slightly and meets Kel's eyes. Lazily, Clariburnus raises his hand and reaches toward Kel, who remains confident behind the barrier. The confidence soon begins to fade, and flutters away completely as Clariburnus' hand pierces the barrier.

The shadowy hand begins to smolder and burn as the radiance of the ward attacks his evil flesh. Despite the obvious strength of the barrier and the intense pain it must be causing him, Clariburnus' face never shows it. His hand bends the barrier, forcing it outward toward Kel. His hand seems just about to break through when it suddenly stops and, holding it there, Clariburnus' eyes narrow and his lip curls in a rare show of emotion. A mix of anger and disdain flash across his features as he slowly withdraws his hand, apparently rebuffed in his efforts.

Clariburnus turns his gaze to Atlavast and steps back into the shadows - he and his guard melting away into the darkness that, until this moment, has perpetually surrounded you.

You turn to Atlavast asking with your eyes, "Who? What? How? Are we safe?"

To which Atlavast sighs and says, "I know, I know. We are safe - for now. The wards cannot protect us forever, though, which is why I said that you came at an opportune moment; for both our sakes."

[At this point, feel free to do a little roleplaying with Atlavast and/or each other if you'd like. I will answer (in character and out as appropriate) those questions that I can. Otherwise, we'll cover everything at the next session. I just thought this would be useful since we're looking at another 3 weeks until then. Also, I will post a lengthy recap of the campaign thus far sometime in the near future, which should help clear things up and jog some memories. Hope you guys are having fun with this - I know I am!]

Asric makes a few hand gestures at Atlavast.  When Atlavast doesn't respond, he makes the same gestures again slower and more pronounced.  He waits a few moments, but when Atlavast still doesn't respond, he says "Fine, does no one understand the secret signing language?"

"Is it safe to speak now?  Or can that Netherese fellow hear us through the barrier?"
You fight for your freedom? Well, I fight for the freedom of all.
