The game is changing maybe with a new edition, even more... I have the dread feeling the anti-4thed massed for an happy party, and we are sent away... The 4th ed forums dropped sharply in use.

What now?

Now we go on the Future Releases forum, join the playtests, etc.  Make one last jab at getting our voices heard.  Possibly, maybe even probably a futile gesture, but it doesn't cost us anything but time.

And in the meantime, we practice our grumbling.  I've taken a shine to this Dark Edition image in my sig.  I think it'd be cool if more of us did it.
Seriously, though, you should check out the PbP Haven.  You might also like Real Adventures, IF you're cool.

It may be futile, looking by how the forums had been... cleaned...

I really want to just read stuff from people who like 4th edition. I love 4th edition, I like playing it, I'm a bit mad that we won't see Dragonlance 4th edition, or that there wasn't a lot of games made for it. But till they bring out Next (and that depends on how much of 4th the keep out of it) I want to play and talk and just not think about our game ending. And really no game needs to end, we can make up our own stuff, we can make up 4th Editions our the campaigns we loved, and love. I just want to know that we still have a group.

Eventually I'm going to see about how to get all the Character Builder and Monsters offline for when the inevitable day comes that they pull the plug on all that is 4e in favor of the new "D&D Previous".

I don´t think they  will cut it off.
CB  and MB will exist even when D&D next  is running. Couse they  do not have  a lot of  work with it ( no new infos  and datas  anymore to add), but can get  money from it. Couse a lot of 4e players will still be  paying for  DDI  to get  the CB.

Hey it was ok for 3.x and pathfinder people to rag on us for the past 4 years with impunity, let's try to get our voice heard, but without attacking anyones favourite game they enjoy.

DnDPast™ is fair game though, because it isnt a cogent set of rules yet

Push lines like, what does dndnext offer to me a 4e player that i can't already get from playing 4e.

but don't be made to feel bad if you critisize dndnext, "it's only the playtest" is the mantra to shut down any dissenting opinion on most message boards

I agree that we need to make our voices heard and get as much of 4thed ideas into D&D Next as we can.

I think we discuss and develop our own 4.5 edition which does fix the minor problems with 4e.
Then we make 4e  modern, 4e supers, 4e Star Wars and all the other versions we want.
Finally we get the rights to 4e cheap and make the next Pathfinder.

I enjoyed basic dnd in 1978.  I used basic dnd to introduce my children when they were 4 year olds to the game.  Then we progressed.  I always thought the fight against 3e when it came out was a silly one.  3e  fixed the math and made the game smoother and more logical.  Then 4e came out and it made the game balanced and cinematic.  I always moved to the next evolution.  This edition seems to be de-evolution of the game.  I don't think I could get my son to give up his 28 varieties of smite.

I too always felt that each edition was an improvement over the one before. I also agree that D&D Next seems like a step backward
