Very nice, man :-)

What other ships do you plan on attempting for SSB?

Right now, I'm focusing more on the ground assault, as I like to include large-scale ground battles in my RPG's, but it's not something you can really do with SWM. For Starships, I've toyed around with making a Victory-class Stardestroyer, a TIE Scout, a Scimitar Bomber, and the Lady Luck. All of them are in the VERY early design stage and look simply awful right now.
I am also very eager to try making a YT-2000, as I really like that ship. I have no idea if it's feasible or not, as I haven't really started on it yet, but I've got lots of doodles on how I can arrange the different hull pieces together so that the cardboard would reinforce eachother and provide relatively large tabs for gluing. No promises, though!
The Sentinel Landing craft is essentially done, I just need to update the textures.
Okay :-)

One idea I've had was to talk to the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade Team and see if I could use there models, as they have a file that can be converted of a Carrack (And a new Lancer), but the models are more complex and many of the edges have to be manually joined, but it may be worth looking into.

Can you make a N-1, im working on a huge space game of the battle of naboo and i dont have enough ships though thanks
It really is amazing how much detail you can get on the paper models. Mind would turn out very different. LOL

Hey Mandalore I have a couple extra Trade Fed Battleships if you are interested in working out a trade. Just shoot me a PM if you want to work something out.
Woow, this looks extremely cool. Great job, man
I like all models, but AT-TE is the best.
Are you planning some more buildings, like Droid Factory or Power Generators?

I've got a bunch of ideas for buildings - Imperial Landing Pad, Jedi Temple, Sith Temple, Massasi Temple, Communications Relay, Imperial Bunker, Ion Cannon, Repair Facility, etc. But they're on a much lower priority. Buildings are generally harder to make becuase it's hard to find good pictures / textures of them (if anyone has some high-rez pictures of the Imperial landing Pad from ROTJ that are not obstructed by vegetation, please PM me). I could invent my own buildings (and I probably will), but that's not quite as much fun as making something recognizable.

I'm also thinking about removing the game stats from the model base for buildings and giving them a stat card just like everything else. That will make them look better for the RPG, and will also allow them to have more detailed special abilities.
Nothing really new to report, but I decided to go ahead and post my "Escape from Hoth" entry from last year's UnCon custom Scenario contest. One of these days, I'm going to redo it. But if I waited until something was perfect before posting it, I wouldn't have a web site at all.
Nice job! I really like how the AT-AT's look
First post has been updated with a picture of the Otoma, now available for download.

Finally, another YT transport for the RPG! Yay!
Dude ... these are superb ... perfect for the tactical (Axis & Allies minis - style) star wars game I've been putting together. Great attention to detail.
Added a Sentinel Landing Craft to the first post. I'm not entirely happy with how it looks, but I've been making minor tweaks here and there for far too long, and now I'm sick of it. So I'm just going to post it as it is now. It's a very simple model, but I'm amazed at how much the design has changed. If you look at reference pictures from X-Wing Alliance, Empire at War, Shadows of the Empire, and the CGI craft from the special edition films, they all look very different. Sure, basic shape is the same, but the hull plating and cockpit have changed dramatically. So this model really doesn't stay accurate to any of them- I just sort of took what I liked and mixed them all together.

All I can say... this is probably the most exciting thing I have ever seen. Thank you for bringing back my childhood of how much I loved X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter/X-Wing and X-Wing Alliance/Tie Fighter/ series. But sadly, I don't really play SSB... it would be really cool to see platform bases for SWM that's straight from the PC game.... just thinking about it makes me too hyped up

The following things I would love to see are:
-Phantom Tie V-38 (Rebel Assault PC)
-The Ebon Hawk
-The Moldy Crow (Jedi Knight: Dark Forces I and II for PC)
-The Last Resort (KOTOR comic)
-Arc Hammer
-ISS Empirical (The Force Unleashed)
-Rogue Shadow (The Force Unleashed)

I have to say, these cardboard models are awesome! Truely an impressive effort!

Personally I'd love to see some different Star Destroyers to mix up my Imperial fleet some. Like:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gladiator-class_Star_Destroyer
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Victory_II-class_Star_Destroyer

Is there some kind of special software you use for making these, or is it al done manually?
Thanks, guys.
Kenred2, just last night I saw a really good Moldy Crow mod for X-Wing Alliance. I may send its author a letter asking for permission to turn it into a model. But right now, I'm working on a Scimitar Bomber, V19 Torrent, ATPT, and a Homing Spider Droid (most of which you can see in the WIP pictures in post #3).

PanzerMusume, rest assured a Victory-Class is in the works... but it's in the very early design stage, so it's going to be a while.
Basically, there are 2 ways I make these models:
1) I convert the OPT files from X-Wing Alliance to 3DS files with opt23ds, then "unfold" them into 2-D pictures with Pepakura Designer, send them to a ghost writer (a virtual printer) to convert them to PDF files, and then edit them in Photoshop to align the pieces and adjust them so that they would be easier to fold.
2) I draw out the shapes on scratch paper, use them as a guide to make it in Photoshop, and then do a heck of a lot of tweaking to them once I print them out and realize that none of the pieces fit properly.

Note- if you're interested in making 3-D paper models, neither method is recommended- what you SHOULD do is buy a 3D modeling program, design the entire model in 3D, and then use something like the above mentioned Pepakura Designer to unfold them.
Me, I'm just too cheap to buy software, and the few shareware 3d modeling programs I've seen were either not suited to making things from scratch, couldn't save in a file format supported by Pepakura, or else had a fairly confusing interface that I couldn't figure out.
If you actually buy Pepakura, then you don't need Ghost Writer. You only need it (or something simular) for the freeware version which doesn't let you save your work.
i know i would love to see some hapan ships. if anyone knows where i could get some battle dragons, hapes novas, and mytil fighters it would be appreciated.
Dave,

If you check on the Rogue Fleet thread, there is an instruction sheet on how you can make Miy'Til fighters. I plan to also make a Miy'Til Bomber and Hetrinar at some point. I also plan on making an instruction sheet for a Hapan Battle Dragon, once I make a smaller version than what I have now. For the Nova Cruisers, unfortunately, I've only seen a micro machine version. The scale is perfect, but the model is $75 on Ebay. I managed to find one real cheap a few years ago, but haven't seen any since...

TIE CLEARANCE SALE!!!!

We're having an incredible sale at Mo's Military Surplus and Used Sienar Fleet Dealership! TIE Fighters, TIE Interceptors, even top-secret-never-before-seen-by-the-general-public TIE experimentals! At prices so low, we're practically giving them away... no, wait, we are giving them away! That's right- all your TIE needs for FREE! Pack up your old starfighter, and come on down!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

But seriosuly, for the longest time, I have been saying I wouldn't make models of figures that WOTC already released, and I'm really not trying to cut into their sales. I was planning on making some TIE variants, and I wanted to have the Experimental M2 & M3, since WOTC was kind enough to post the RPG stats on their web site. But those 2 experimentals are really just a TIE Fighter and a TIE Interceptor with some silly-looking guns glued to the wings. If anyone really wanted to, all they would have to do would be to simply not glue on the guns, and then they would have a TIE Fighter and a TIE Interceptor. So I figured why even bother trying to hide that?
WOTC, if you have objections, let me know, and I'll post some different TIE variants instead. But I seriously, seriously doubt this is going to impact your bottom line.

OK, I do not like this new forum's interface.  The old codes don't work, and I don't like how everything is spaced.  And I'm nto too happy with how it takes several minutes for the pages to load, either.

But at any rate, I posted a new model for Ground Assault. It's actually not a Star Wars vehicle, but just something I put together for fun.  I actually have some ideas for stats, but I thought it might be fun to see what other people come up with first.

Enjoy!

Added a V-19 Torrent to the first post.

Excellent work!  Do you have plans for any capital ships?

I would like to do a Victory-class Star Destroyer, and an Imperial Escort Carrier, but much like the buildings, I can never seem to get motivated to do them.  I started both, but they're in such early stages that righ now they look like nothing more than simple geometric shapes.  They hardly resemble the actual ships at all. I don't know why, but the smaller ships & vehicles seem more exciting to work on, so that's what I've been focusing on.

Well, keep up the great work! Gotta do what you enjoy, otherwise it isn't a hobby :-p

I've taken a break from creating Star Wars models, as I'm sure has become quite apparant.  I'm not completely done with it; I just wanted to do something else for a change. In the meantime, I've posted another Transformer miniature.

I'm also in the process of redesigning my web site, but I'm leaving the SSB section pretty much intact, so if anyone has any links directly to the models, you don't have to worry about updating them.  Only the Optimus Prime and the new Prowl model are going to get moved.
looks cool
Added a TIE Scout:

Updated Post #3 to include a picture of a Republic Gunship that I still haven't finished.
I know other people have already posted paper gunship models, so I'm a bit behind the times, but I'm determined to release one at some point.
Finally finished that stupid LAAT model.
LAAT Gunship.jpg

I don't know how many times I scrapped the project and started over from scratch!
I'm pretty happy with the model, even if I'm not so thrilled about the quality of the picture.

I also made a minor update to the snail tank... or Corporate Alliance Droid tank... or NR-NR99 Persuader-class Enforcer... or the stupidest-looking vehicle in the Star Wars universe... whatever you want to call the thing.  At any rate, the model is still the same, but it's shrunk down 20% in size, so that it looks closer to scale with the other models.
Finally finished that stupid LAAT model.

That is a damn sexy LAAT model.

Actually, that's pretty much true of all your models, Momir.

Added a Landspeeder.
Without a doubt, this is the teeniest, tiniest model I have ever made.
It's small size can make it very frustrating to assemble, but it looks particularly good when put next to something big like the ATAT or Sand Crawler.

Grab a pair of tweesers, squint your eyes a bit, and get ready to scrape extra glue off your fingers.
Hey Momir, your little paper models are pretty nice. I notice that you've got some TIE models. Have you got any plans to do other ships that are already represented by Starship Battles minis? Like X-wings and V-wings and such?

Also: do you take requests?

Momir, your models are amazing. Simply perfect. The ground battles "expansion" for SSB is really fun. I also would like to know if you'll get back to the standard SSB? I'd personally love to see some Dark Times era craft and more capital ships (all my campaigns are around the events of Force Unleashed). I'm thinking the Rogue Shadow and some more fringe ships would be sweet. I would LOVE to use the Shadow in a game; afterall, as far as we know the Rebellion has it!

Thanks.
For the longest time, I had always said "no" when asked if I plan on doing ships from the original game.  Part of the reason is that I like the plastic figures better, so I figured "why would you want a paper version when you can get a more solid piece?".  But mostly, I was afraid Wizards of the Coast would think I was cutting into their sales and would ask me to take everything down (not just those models).  I was very nervous when I posted those TIES. Originally, I was just going to post the TIE experiments, but really, the experiments are nothing more than standard TIES with something glued on top.  It doesn't take a genius to figure out that they don't have to glue that last piece on.

Since it seems the Wizards have officially given up on not just SSB, but Star Wars as a whole, I think maybe it's time that I do change gears.  There's certainly a demand for it.  So, let's go for it.
(Wizards: as always, if you object, please let me know)

I'm almost done with an X-Wing (the model's done; I just need to make the instructions, and post it):

XWing

The X-Wing actually gives me an idea for a contest (it's been a loooong time since we've had a contest on this forum), but I'm not sure if I could get enough participants.  Here's the idea - when I run an RPG in which the players are in starfighters, I need to have some way to determine which miniature represents which player. I could mark the bases, or change the number of stripes on the wings, or replace the red stripes with green, blue, and yellow stripes, but that's a bit boring.  So I was thinking of supplying the model and the base textures and holding a contest on who could come up with the best X-Wing variations. It could be fun, but some kind of photo-editing software would be required, so I don't know how many people that would exclude (and this forum isn't exactly the bustling center of activity that it once was).  How many of you out there would be up for that?  If I get enough favorable responses, I'll make it a go.
I have photoshop and would totally be willing to give it a go.

I'v erecently built a custom ship from scratch material, but as it's completely white (being unpainted at the moment) I haven't posted pics. it's nowhere near as good looking as good looking as your models though. I've been trying to collect pepakura models and shrink them to the correct scale, but as they're meant larger, A LOT of detail is lost and I have to reconstruct many of the tabs. Been trying to work on an Interdictor, but I think I printed it off slightly smaller than it needs to be. I've also been trying to fabricate Vader's Eta-2 Interceptor for my Force Unleashed campaign.
The X-wing looks good. I'm a graphic designer, so I've definitely got Photoshop ... and I'd be keen to have a go at pimping out a paper X-wing ... ;)

I'm glad you did post the TIEs. Even though the plastic ones are commons, they still tend to run at about $3 each, which is a bit pricey if you want 4 or more of them (and nobody ever seems to have that many anyway; they only have one or two).

I'd personally like to see more of the ships that never actually got a plastic mini. Like the Citadel-class cruiser, the Baudo-class star yacht, the Dynamic-class freighter (Ebon Hawk, anyone?), the Eclipse SSD, and the Z-95 Headhunter. A Golan Defense Platform or whatever it's called would be cool too.

I have photoshop as well, wouldn't mind giving it a whirl...

Golan's would be awesome to have...
