Vader defeat effect

I have a Darth Vader Champion of the Sith and his commander effect:

"Once per turn, each follower within 6 squares may reroll 1 attack at +4 Attack and +10 Damage

If the result of the rerolled attack is a miss, the attacking character is defeated"

What happens if a figure of my squad is defeated by my own Vader? The opponent gets the points? Even if the figure defeated was not damaged?
Whenever your piece is defeated, no matter how, your opponent gets the points.
thats why it's risky. most people doing that will also bring Emperor Palpatine so everyone in that squad can re-roll if they miss that one attack at +4 atk and +10 dam.
I have another question, what is not really clear to me: the text on Vader COTS's card says "...If the result of the rerolled attack is a miss, the attacking character is defeated"
What this 'miss' means? That I roll a natural 1 or simple my roll is not enough to hit the target?
THX
A miss means that your roll is not enough to hit the target. An roll of 1 is just an auto-miss no matter what your attack value is.
