Umm, so I don't really frequent these forums any more, but I do blog for my website Greatplay.net.
wow what an ar-se.

btw, you do get that "your deck is a netdeck" pretty often don't you?
God damn it Greg. You and your Net-decking and beating a deck that should **** you. Why don't you try to have some ideas of your own and make your own deck. lol

This is really funny. That dude was a crybaby, and its funny when they start crying about how they should win against this match-up. In this meta, you rarely have a match-up that is more than 60% (Fae is one of them.) so when people cry about how they should be winning, they can just shove it up their ass.

Oh and good job on the win (although I'm not so sure you had to do much to beat that guy).
I didn't have to do much at all. I played T4 Ajani, tapped down his one land with a Fertile Ground. His other lands were Filters, and he made no other plays until I had enough to destroy all his lands.

Then he got all mad at me.

And my deck is not a netdeck. Yes, it is based off a popular archetype that I did not personally create (so is his), but I didn't rip it off the forums. I've put a lot of personal thought and development into it.

Too bad he didn't live long enough to see the full range of my tech. ;)

PS: I've gotten the "You're a netdeck stfu noob" three times in my play history of this deck. They're just mad because they lose.
Umm, so I don't really frequent these forums any more, but I do blog for my website Greatplay.net.
The guy was a douche. The fact that Greg is one of the people doing an impressive amount of work on the deck is just icing on the cake.

At least when I hear "oh god, fae again" I *deserve* it. :P

Edit: Oh, and that tapdown is insane against those of us running filters. Just... ow.

Maybe they've played against planeswalker decks the whole day, only to meet another one at the end of the day?

It's like wanting to playtest your deck during TSP era, only to meet dralnu or narcobridge 25 out of 30 games throughout the whole day. :D

OH SNAP!

He called you Ben Stiller!
I think "Ben Stiller" is the best namecalling I have ever heard. If I had a sig, that would go in it for sure.

I do wonder what happened to that Wall of Shame thread. I enjoyed reading that.
Ahaha, it's stories like this that make me wish I had time to play Magic online. Seriously, trolls make my day.
The funniest part when people whine about netdecking--especially when you've made it clear you'd like to test seriously--is that if netdecking is so 'newbish' then they should be able to handle you easily. THEY KNOW WHAT YOUR DECKLIST IS.

If anyone told me "I knew his decklist in and out and how to beat it, and my deck is good...but he owned me." I would think bad luck, or bad player, and nobody's luck is ALWAYS that bad.
Someone quit because of LD? That's unheard of.

I don't usually see ajani go ultimate. Most of the time he is there for no-untap shenanigans and lightning helix powah

If they keep a 3 land hand and don't see another for a few turns, its pretty much gg. Because you are still holding answers to all of their 2-drops.
Well to be honest, when your deck (Planeswalkers) or some variation of it is being played online by EVERYONE AND HIS BROTHER, you have to expect some degree of "lol netdecking noob". Comes with the territory of playing a popular deck archetype, regardless of whether you tweaked the deck yourself or not.
All this guy saw out of my deck was Ajani V, and he automatically assumed I was a cookie cutter, Naya Charm toting, 4 Finks as my only creature playing, netdecking idiot.

He couldn't be farther from the truth. I would have likely beaten him to death, both with my magical cardboard and my fists.

Besides, the Planeswalker decks that are "all over SGC" are positively retarded anyway.
Umm, so I don't really frequent these forums any more, but I do blog for my website Greatplay.net.
Speaking of Planeswalkers. What's better to run in a R/W deck, Ajani Vengeant or Chandra?
Chandra is an awesome but not tier-1 card. Johnny the fifth is just flat-out awesome.

3 Vengeant.

The next time someone accuses you of netdecking, accuse him back of netdecking.

opponent: bla bla bla you and your netdeck.
you: your deck is a netdeck too.

Yes always stoop to their level.
if u can't beat them, join them!

If you stoop to their level when it comes to netdecking claims, you will be amazed at how irony is at work.

Or you could just switch to Finkel-style Trix (ignoring type restrictions posted on game titles ftw!) and give him something to complain about.

That reminds me of this one time when i had my restriction as Only (i was playing a tourny). This one guy kept joining my game after changing his name and just kept repeatedly getting t1 kills with some ridiculous deck (it clearly had more than 4 of each card) and then laughing and leaving. I was like wtf, don't you have anything better to do!?

Sometimes I don't even get that far. One bounce spell can be enough to trigger the "noob" comment.
Chandra is an awesome but not tier-1 card. Johnny the fifth is just flat-out awesome.

Well, I thought that but I don't quite understand why people think it. Ajani doesn't do much but stop one thing from untapping, which is usually useless and can Lightning Helix once or twice before getting overrun and killed. Chandra, two turns after you play her, basically wins you the game.
Ajani's +1 ability: take care of a single threat permanently, or keep lands tapped down.
Chandra's +1 ability: Lava Dart, only it can't hit creatures.
Ajani's -2 ability: Lightning Helix, one of the best burn spells ever printed.
Chandra's -X ability: A bit more versatile than Ajani's burn, but costlier and without the lifegain. Also can't hit the opponent in the head.
Ajani's ultimate: Wins you the game.
Chandra's ultimate: Wins you the game.

That's oversimplified.

Chandra's ultimate: 2 turns after being played.

Ajani's ultimate: FOUR turns after being played.

That's the big difference.

OK, this guy ****** me off. He advertised his game as 'New player, still learning the rules'. I was playing a version of the BoaB elfball deck from yesterday's Daily MTG.

I played Tar Fiend, sacced 3, put counters on and waited for him to discard. When he didn't, I said 'you have to discard three'

Him: 'No, it doesn't say AND'

Me: '?'

Him: 'You either put the counters on, or I discard, not both'

Me: '... um... no, it's both'

Him: 'Yeah and all my cards say Auto-Win. Now are you finished with your turn?'

Me: '... no, you have to discard 3. You said you're a new player, take my word for it, it's both.'

Him: 'I haven't the time to argue about this, either play properly or leave'

Me: systemplayerlost...

I've no problem with noobs at all. I like helping people to learn the game. Noobs like this though...

That's so awesome. I'm totally going to call Ajani Vengeant "Johnny Five" from now on.

to whoever gets the reference.

The biggest difference is that Ajani cost 4mc and Chandra costs 5mc. And you can usually "timewalk" your opponent with Ajani if you get him out early. Just keeping them at 2-3 land for most of them game is pretty lethal. And don't forget (most people do) you still have turns 1-2 (maybe turn 3 if you don't accel) then every turn after you play Ajani to play other spells. For some reason when people argue about how good a PW is, somebody says, "Yeah but they get run over too easily." They forget about the possibility of playing some spells from your hand to protect your PW and the Opponent isn't going to have 5 creatures out when you drop this.

I suggest you fit Chandra in you PW deck as well though. She is pretty good.

@ Glux: That doesn't explain why Ajani is better. It actually makes Ajani look worse than Chandra.

You could simply have pointed out that Tarfiend doesn't say "or" either. Cards with options always have an "or" printed on them (or "unless").

Chandra is actually fairly good. She's definitely the fourth best planeswalker. The ability to be a customizable Cone of Flame, plus a win condition, plus a hard to answer must-answer makes her pretty viable.
Umm, so I don't really frequent these forums any more, but I do blog for my website Greatplay.net.

4th best in your deck or what? What is your list of the order greg?

1. Ajani Venegant
2. Garruk Wildspeaker[1]
3. Elspeth, Knight-Errant
4. Chandra Naalar
5. Ajani Goldmane [2]
6. Sarkhan Vol [3]
7. Liliana Vess
8. Jace Beleren[4]
9. Tezzeret, the Seeker

This list came from the Parade thread, and is fairly applicable to general list. Obviously this list varies intensely depending on your list and colours, and is only for the Standard Format (otherwise Tezzeret > All).

[1]: Garruk is, I think, the best planeswalker in a vacuum, but the current meta values Vengeant more.
[2]: Ajani Goldmane would likely be 4th if it didn't have to compete with Vengeant.
[3]: His value is much inflated if you're running sac outlets.
[4]: If you're playing Fae, Jace is the only walker worth running. For 5c, he's still probably the best, but Vengeant would be very nearby.

I agree except for i put jace much higher. Trust me he's just amazing in control. In my blue white he just keeps providing a steady stream of answers and everything you want. I really don't think chandra is better than him, i would slip jace in front of chandra and be done. Although i pretty think the first 3 are equal it just depends on the state of the meta.

Well even for draw in control, there are better things than Jace. See the Fathom Trawl v. Jace debate in Fae, for example.

Against aggro jace provides a steady stream until your opponent is forced to redirect damage often letting survive longer. Against control jace is just completely nuts. Hard for them to deal with and over time your CA is just unstoppable.
