Stunned into silence

I just saw a clip on youtube from Britain's Got Talent. When I first saw it, I was literally stunned into silence. You thought Paul Potts was a shock. Check this one out:

How awesome was that! Good for her.
Damn.
Wow, I gotta agree.

Even with the buildup in this thread and the video title, I was expecting her to be awful. Then she started singing and damn...

Extremely good lesson about not judging a book by it's cover, that woman has got the right stuff!
I have to say that I expected something really terrible. I personally like the expressions on the judges face when she starts singing.

Good Trades: 18 Bad Trades: 1

I feel like I was watching the final scene in some feel-good movie about achieving your dreams, especially given her choice of song.

That woman has got genuine born-in-the-blood talent. If she doesn't get hired as a professional singer there is something deeply wrong with the world.
Jesus christ.
I know you said you were floored, and even the video itself says it's amazing, but, I wasn't expecting too much.
But God damn. That was absolutely stunning.
I especially love the crowd, and the young girls going "No way she can do it", and then seeing the entire audience giving her a standing ovation.

Wow.

I'm not a fan of as much vibrato as she put in at some parts, but, DAMN, you just don't expect that voice to come out of that lady.

I don't know if it would be better to watch with just the sound first, or cut off that intro part at the beginning or whatever, but it is amazing anyway you slice it.

I'd like to hear her sing something else though. "Who Wants To Live Forever" would be nice.
I showed this to someone here at work that is a big American Idol fan, without telling her anything about it.

She laughed at the silly british woman, thought the same thing the rest of us did. I watched her instead of the screen when the singing started. Her eyes literally bugged out and her jaw dropped. A look of pure and utter shock at what she was hearing.

It was great. :D

I did some cursory research on the show this is from. The winner gets 100,000 pounds and the chance to preform their act for the Queen herself.

The Queen is in for a treat with this one.
Her song choice was perfect, not only for the competition but with representing herself. "In your face," with elegance. Performance was climactic.

That was unbelievably fantastic. The look on Simon's face especially was absolutely priceless.

Yeah. From what I've heard, his recording company has already been in talks with her.
I'm not surprised in the least.

This was last year's winner. I think this show's producers or whoever who finds these people is brilliant. Much superior to the american version.

Indeed. How did Chris Daughtry get as far as he did?
Wow, that is... I'm speechless.

Oh, so Paul did win it last year? I'm not surprised--his audition was incredible.

Which one? The surprised look from the beginning, or the day-dreamy "I think I'm in love" look from the the end? ;)

Anyway, yeah, very impressive. And I'm usually ambivalent to music/singing in general. But even for someone like me, she was simply incredible. After watching the other videos from that poster, the only real competition she seems to have is the dance group, "Flawless." Nobody else even comes close.

Wow. I'd never heard that song before. I really like it.

The singer looked like Julia Child to me. And I expected her to have a powerful voice. But she still blew me away.
At least I have my proper avatar now, I guess. But man is this cloud dark.
I didn't think she was that good.

That's so beautiful omg.

"Okay America, it's time to vote…"
"Okay Bell Curve, it's time to vote…"

FIXED!

And, far too often, that's led to people saying, "How did (insert name) get as far as he did?"
Damn, I really wish I had some head phones. The computers here at school don't have speakers. This is one for when I get home I guess.

Both. :P

Apparently our friends at mtgsalvation are less than impressed:

They might be your friends, but they're certianly not mine. I've never frequented that portion of the boards.

That would be an interesting idea - if WotC bought out MTG Salvation.
It would likely do Wizards well. Put a bit of a kaibosh on the spoiler action.

Regardless, now that I've been able to use a computer with speakers I'm stunned. She was quite good. People largely don't sing like that anymore, there just isn't a huge market, but it was fantastic to listen too, and the people who produce that show did a good job making it as impressive as possible.

If only Disney were still making movies like they used to, perfect voice for singing lead female X.
Here is, apparently, a performance she did for a charity CD in Scottland, that only ran 1000 copies.
