A Bunch Of Fat Cows

In honour of this deck finally achieving a scalp last night by dealing 46 damage in two turns to win a 3HG game, here is the Aurochs tribal deck.
It still needs a lot of work, but it's improving.
Either way, from last night onwards, Aurochs Herd is now officially known as "Meat Parade", in case anyone asks. :D

EDIT: Here be the latest decklist. This has obviously gone through a few iteratons since the original post!

Here's to four Meat Parades in four turns. :D

I dont know much about Aurochs, but I would imagine Brass Herald is pretty good. If I were to play Aurochs, I would probally do GB for Patriach's Bidding. Or seeing as your playing multiplayer how about another Cow
If you choose to include four each of those two changelings and remove all your random non-auroch creatures, I think you've got your beats pretty much covered.

Then, fill the bottom of your curve with better defensive measures. Green has a variety of very good 2cc walls: vine trellis, wall of blossoms and wall of roots.

These walls are better than briar patch mainly for them not interfering with your curve and actually help you put out earlier aurochs. In stead of briar patch, you could run a set of pyroclasms to take care of weenie rushes and slower swarm-strategies.

I'd aslo consider lightning greaves as your haste-enabler. Since your creatures will not have significant tap-abilities, the haste granted from the boots is as good as any other, you're not likely to play more than one attacker each turn and if you play taurean mauler, boots can grant it time enough to get stupidly large.

Consider white for ghostway, since you have a very slow build-up process and will get absolutely wrecked by any good mass-destruction. The mana could be fixed turn one with utopia sprawl and/or search for tomorrow.
I always liked extra attack phases with aurochs.

I would also try to get 4 of each of them, as they are close to vital to the plan, even if some of them ain't that good.

What with all the random 1's and 2's? 1 kird ape? What's that all about.

I support taurean mauler for this deck but not Chameleon collosus, when I go theme deck I like to stick to the theme and that means not playing cheese.

Is briar patch just there for the theme value? Cause that card is jank.

Urza'z armor? Really?

I like the idea. I'll get my thinking cap on and give you a hand with the heiffer as soon as I can, (may be as late as tuesday though) I'm sure I can find some bullish cards to stick in there.

You need grasslands and a farmstead for them cows!
Ive just had another look, and have found your not playing enough Aurochs. Cut the Druid, its rubbish unless there are lots of Artifact decks getting played. A card that would work really well, which I love, is Marton Stromgald. Sure he might be better of with Token decks, but he's practically an Auroch. For the additional combat phases how about Waves of Aggression. That way you can cast it multiple times.

Haha, yes! Dead cards, as mentioned!
The random 1's and 2's were really in there to fit out the mana curve of the original deck. Briar Patch and Urza's Armor were there to protect me with Bedlam on the table.
Obviously, none of this needs to be here anymore! :D

The Herald is awesome, but also high cc - with a playset of Aurochs Herd in the deck already, I'm a bit wary of winding up with a deck half-full of 6cc creatures.
But yes, Tauren Mauler has a home here. I need to source one.

needs more cowbell :P

Somebody please delete above spam.
Here's what I've come up with so far, Obviously the problem is finding enough cows to make it work without adding every changeling card ever printed. It's not much but maybe you can get something to run with out of all this mess.

Soul foundry Pumpin' out cows.
Riptide replicator ditto.
Urza's incubator cheaper steak.
No Quarter For when you unleash the herd.
diligent farmhand takes of the care of the cows and the land
caller of the hunt he's a human in bull's clothing.

That's all I got so far, I need some more keywords to go on. The cows and herd thing didn't do much for me.
needs more cowbell :P

Urza's incubator cheaper steak.

This thread is rapidly approaching awesome status. ;)

I'm wondering what else red to put in this deck now.
It really needs to stay because of the Fires and the Relentless Assault (ain't nothing more awesome than hasty tramply cows that swing twice), but we're starting to run out of other red cards. Any thoughts?

And thanks for the awesome ideas so far. There'll definately be some walls going in, preferably Wall of Blossoms or Wall of Roots, as they will accelerate as well as defend. Also Treetop Village and Urza's Incubator. Plenty of things to swap them in for. ;)

Dolmen Gate could make you survive easier with your bulls.
Shared Animosity makes your bulls get double bonus, and is another reason to go red.
Master Warcraft is something I think of as a really cool card. Double attack without any blockers ftw?
Stonebrow, Krosan Hero benefits your trampling aurochs, and is even better with extra attack phases. And more reasons to go red.
Savage Beating = 7-mana destroy target player or two

And you still need some changelings ^^

Spitting Image could be good if you target Auroch herd.
Spitting Image could be good if you target Auroch herd.

ditto for heat shimmer.
So far...

-1 Lifeline
-1 Citanul Druid
-1 Battle Squadron
-2 Keldon Warlord
-1 Overrun

+2 Shared Animosity (:mymy
+1 Rage Reflection (:rofl
+1 Kusari-Gama (prolly win-more, but it does for now)
+1 Avatar of Fury (in lieu of better flying defense)
+1 Lightning Dragon (ditto)

The Lifeline may go back in at some point (it was rather effective at keeping the beef on the table), but we'll see.
Still needs walls, Taurean Mauler and Colossus.

Just wanted to chime in and say how happy I am to see an Aurochs tribal deck. This world needs more heifer love. :D
heh heh
After more playtesting, Kusari-Gama is officially awesome.
When most people are faced with a mad rush of Meat, their instinct is usually to block it with whatever is lying around. Kusari-Gama encourages them to take the beef directly to the face each time or lose their creature base. It's throwing up some nasty choices for the defender, and given how offense-driven this deck is, that's a good thing.

Though not technically beef, Vigor looks like a cow (bull) and will help you protect the creatures, although your deck is already high on creatures.

I would cut some more of random 1 ofs like Lightning Dragon and Avatar of Fury along with Spawnwrithe for Raking Canopy. It isn't the best but it is cheap and two out stops pretty much every big bad flyer guy.

Face it, you're pretty much here as a meat shield.

If you are at Georgian Court Univeristy or Monmouth Univeristy PM me. If you are out by York College of PA, I can help you reach the group there.

Maybe spidersilk armor instead of the raking canopy? Beef up the beef and reach for all.

Enshrined memories? Diggy diggy.
mad cow disease makes your cows angrier :D

aggravated assault can also help you double boost your cows. Attack once and everyone gets ~+4/+0 attack again then another +4/+0

also on the same note, ever consider shared triumph and relate steroids?
