So are the Wizo's ever gonna fix the broken link on the 3rd rebellion preview?

It's been teasing with a broken link for 4 days now.
It's been teasing with a broken link for 4 days now.

uhm...is there a point to fixing it?
Well it does add the incompetant feel to the website. Though i am not sure that is what they are going for.
uhm...is there a point to fixing it?

Some of us don't have our copies of RECG yet, and more importantly, people who are yet undecided could conceivably be convinced by another preview. So, yeah, in addition to it making the site feel a little less professional (as Daeglan said), it would serve at least some purpose.
It isn't the WizO's job to fix those things as they are only responsible for these boards I believe but is IS irritating to have that preview up for two (or is it now three) days with the link going nowhere.
It may not be their job. but they can contact the right people whose job it is to fix them.
Really though, it's OBE (overcome by events).

Not to sound like a jerk, but this should have been taken care of by now.
I agree; it should be fixed.
It really makes for a bad impression. Especially to people thinking of buying the system. It looks like the publisher doesn't care about the system.
It really should have been fixed some time ago.

The only consolation is that if it deals with the Zann Consortium but is only going to cover two pages from the book your aren't going to miss much. The first page has three short paragraphs about the Consortium and follows with the stat block for one of their agents, a Zann Consortium Defiler who is a Human Scoundrel4/Noble1/Soldier1. The second page would have a nice Assault Tank on it and the fluff for a transport speeder but no stat block for it. IF they gave the third page which also goes into the Corporate Sector you'd get the stats for that transport speeder plus the stats for a Keldabe-class battleship. That battleship is one of the problems with the book due to a weapon system which deals 8d20x5 damage AND ignores a targets SR. I'm sorry but one hit from that will know anything short of a SSD down the CT with each hit and vaporize many ships with only a couple shots.
I've contacted the person in charge so hopefully it will be corrected very soon.

Still broken as of 10:28 eastern USA time.
Two weeks, and it's still broken? Waaay to go, wizards.
So on 8/11/09 the link still down.

For the record, if WotC is having trouble fixing it, I agree it would be fine to just get rid of the preview. It's not a question of needing the information, it's just that having dead links looks... sloppy.
It really shows how little WotC cares about this product. Which is really kinda insulting. Please WotC at least give us the decency of a webpage that functions properly. I would love it to be as good as the D&D page but that's a pipe dream. But they could at least give us an error free page.
It really shows how little WotC cares about this product.

Not to wander too far off topic, but this sentiment really is equal parts counter-productive and poorly (if at all) grounded in fact. Rodney (or Gary, or both) has repeatedly stated that this iteration of the SWRPG is grossly outselling its broken predecessors and continues to make money for Wizards (making not caring for it fiscally unsound). Further, the quality of books we're getting simply blows away what we got for the RCR; stat-block issues aside, each new book brings new mechanics (that defy shoehorning into specific eras, even as era-specific sourcebooks comprise a large portion of the line) that keep the game fresh while providing more content for characters and campaigns of every stripe.

If Wizards doesn't care, it has a very funny way of showing it.
Yes Rodney cares, works hard on the products, and puts out great products. However Stars Wars is always getting the shaft when it comes to their web page. Go to the D&D side and look at the amount of stuff that goes onto that side of the site and how good it looks. Then come back to the Star Wars side and you'll see what I mean. D&D gets weekly extensive updates Stars Wars hardly ever gets updates. We are lucky if we get previews. Half the time they seem to leave broken links for days. Of course now its been like 3 weeks with a broken link. Not to mention absolutely no presence at Gen Con. So it may be fiscally unsound. But then I have seen lots of companies do fiscally unsound things. Just take a look at the Banking and Auto Industry.
I sent the person in charge a heads up about the link a while back and I usually get a response the same day or the problem is fixed in that time. This leads me to believe that they might be on vacation or something else could have come up that has taken priority. Once I get back I will send another email and try to get the link working.

Nice points btw, Sabin_Marcus and Daeglan. I agree completely.

I am not expecting the universe. I would just like Rodney to get enough help to be able to do as good a job as he can. The reason errors crop up is because Saga does not get the resources D&D gets. He needs a dedicated editor. And yes D&D is a cash cow but Star Wars has a lot of potential for the same. I would love to see a little more love and support sent our way. You know a few maps, Discussions of classes, etc.. I know it can be done it would just take WotC giving Rodney a few more resources. Shoot hire a freelance writer to do just web page stuff. it doesn't even need to be weekly. I would be happy with something every couple weeks. It was nice when all the Miniature previews had Saga stats. I would love to see all the miniatures have Saga Stats. that would be a great resource for GM's. A little something to help the Gm's. Cause no GM's no star wars games.

I was thinking West End Games and TSR would be a bit more apt.
Back on the 4th i put in an email to the CM team and i got the following :

Thanks trapped. I've passed the broken link on to the people who can fix the problem. Hopefully we'll see a fix soon.

Well, disagreeably though I may have been, I've pretty much got to agree with this. Saga's web support was pretty good at the beginning, but quickly petered off to the point that it's pretty clearly not near the top of the web team's (web guy's?) list of priorities. Somewhere along the line, I got the impression that WotC has just one web team that gets assignments for all of their product lines, and SWRPG is (or nearly is) the lowest priority. More web support would show how much WotC cares.

Thats exactly how it is from my limited understanding is theres one web team for the sites, and thire main focus is on MTG and D&D

But you already said they care. ;) Search your feelings. You know there's a snowball's chance on Mustafar of getting good web enhancements.

I know that this is not true.

Because of my NDA I can not say more other than WotC does know of these concerns and things are in progress to address them.

Change doesn't happen overnight. And, much like building a solid structure, if you want the changes to be last it takes even more time to set up the correct foundation.

As I said before, I have tried to contact the person in charge and when I return I will be in contact with them about this issue and the things I am currently working for the website.

It must show my age but I remember when I first started playing Star Wars RPG and D&D--we didn't count on any web support because there was no such thing as the web. We had to count on the few books and modules and the rest was up to our imaginations to create. :D

not only that, but we had to skin small bacteria, and after about 20 stright days of doing this, we had a blank map. IIf we wanted it all fancy-like, we had to go see those painters in the caves in France, but they didn't call it that in those days...
