Star Wars RPG OmegaDex

Hi everyone, I posted this over at the D20 Radio boards, and it was suggested I throw it up here too. It's basically just an index of items, ships, talents, skills, etc. across all the currently published books (I found it a bit frustrating that talents of the same tree, skill uses, etc. are spread across volumes). It also has NPCs, starships and opponents sorted by CL as well as alphabetically, which I needed as a GM. I'm pretty sure something like this already exists somewhere, but figured I'd share it with the boards just in case any of you guys could use it too.

I'm no graphic designer, so it's not too pretty to look at. But, hey, it can't be any worse than the indexes WotC doesn't give us. (Just kidding! Don't ban me, WotC-Mods!) :D

Thanks!

This is great! It will totally help me out.

A few typos I noticed just skimming through:
In the Turret talent tree for Saboteur (pg. 10) there are three "Blaster Turret I" talents listed. I believe this is meant to be "Blaster Turret I", "Blaster Turret II", "Blaster Turret III".
In the Characters/Personalities in both the Alphabetical (pg. 23) and CL (pg. 24) section, Armand Isard is listed as Armand Usard.
Also in the Characters/Personalities in the Alphabetical (pg. 23) Marn "Gryph" Hierogryph has an extra set of open quotes before Gryph.

Thanks again!

You like you omegadex are now awesome and in terms of appearance it looks just fine to me.

I don't mean to criticize because it's a lot better than I would have done, but I noticed somethings you left off that you might want to add in a revision
detonite and explosive charges from the core book are missing in the table of explosives

and I don't mean to be greedy, just making a suggestion

have you thought of adding the promotional material to your OMEGADEX, things like the

Yeah, I have thought about that. But there's a little difficulty in referencing those things simply (i.e. I don't know what I would put in the column referencing the book where they could be found, as it's a million different online articles). I suppose I could just put "online" and let the user go hunt around for them, which would be a pain ... or maybe turn them into links to the item. I'll have to think on it, but I do want to add the Dawn of Defiance stuff. That'd be easy enough.

And if I find the time I may also break things up by era and/or faction... I think that might be useful to me.
Era and factionwould be most benificial for GMs.

P.S. - Awsome and win, dude.
Damn! You beat me to it!! My index was going to be ready to go in a day or two. Yours is way sweeter and formatty though. Mine is an Excel file, which I might still put up because it's sortable in different ways.

Awesome work!

:D
So hot it hurts.
Expect my wrongful injury lawsuit shortly.
So hot!
Very nice and it must have been a bit of work to compile.

Thank You for doing it, and may I request notification if you make updates?
Thank you for your great work. This index is great.

Keep up the good work.

Yes this is a wonderful index. I think with the help of the communities input this could be one of the 'must have' tools for all SWRPG players.

I hope this is something you intend to continue updating as new sets and web enhancements become available.
Encroyable! Amazing work, thanks so much. For non-book material, you could just put WEB or PROMO, that'd be enough to flag its existence outside the bound material.

I wonder is there a place for adding an ERRATA tag for those topics that have it?
How about for online stuff you just put "WEB" and then add some pages to the end with the list of URLs?
Thanks everyone for the kind words and suggestions. I do plan on updating for Faction/Era and adding some of the web content, but that may have to wait until the next book's released (Clone Wars in November?), or maybe for an empty weekend.

In the meantime, I have updated it to fix those annoying spelling errors and a few other minor items (same link as before).
Thanks for the corrections and constructive criticism -- I'll make the edits and get an updated version posted over the weekend.

you could do a table of acronyms on the first page and next to the acronym you could put the full name and a spelled out link to it

planet hoppers # 3 could be abbreviated wPH3
all of the minis previews could start with wMP# and then the "standard" abbreviation used for the minis set, wMP3AaE would be "Alliance and Empire" mini's preview 3 (the first minis set that featured SAGA edition stats)
Message to spacers 3 could be abbreviated wMtS3 or wMS3
Dawn of Defiance 3 would of course be wDoD3

the leading w indicates web content

Thanks for the bump EliasWindrider. I missed this before. I too tried to tackle the idea of a complete index. After about 4 hours of typing I quit!

FunkamusPrime,
Thanks for making what should have been in the book in the first place! Awesome!
Yes. Now, dare I look a gift horse in the mouth and ask what we're all thinking...Funkamus...any chance you're planning on updating it with all the awesome stuff from Scum and Villany?

And online findings, as well?
All of the books as they're published: yes

Dawn of Defiance: probably, when I get around to it ... no promises

All other online stats: doubtful ... it's just all over the place and cataloging it would be a mess.

And I also plan to add a sort by Era and Faction, so hopefully that'll off-set the negative karma that comes from skimping on the bulk of the online stuff. :P
Truly awesome. Thanks!
M
Looking through this, it is impressive for modular mechanics, but it's missing all the other stuff involving character/vehicle creation basics, combat, and other non-modular rules.

what if someone else (or a collection of someones) was to track it all down and say post a summary and link to each one in this thread?
kind of like

web article name, suggested abbreviation
link
character: ---- [name] AND/OR
vehicle: ---- [name] AND/OR
weapon: ---- [name] AND/OR

Okay ... let me give a little background on how this little project came to be. It was never made with the thought or intent of distributing it everywhere to meet everyone's needs ... it was made for purely selfish reasons. The material included is the stuff that I need an extra index for. It's the stuff that I've found myself saying "Now, in which book did they publish ?"

As I haven't personally had any problem tracking down rules when I need them, I didn't include that stuff. If I need starship creation basics, I know where to look in Starships of the Galaxy. If I need combat rules, I can find that chapter in the Core Rules while blindfolded (which would pose its own problems once I try to read them...). And most of the rules stuff is included in the official indexes already.

So maybe the name "OmegaDex" shouldn't be taken too seriously... I just thought it sounded catchy at the time.

what if someone else (or a collection of someones) was to track it all down and say post a summary and link to each one in this thread?

If someone else (or a collection of someones) were to track it all down and send it to me as an Excel doc or CSV file then I would at least copy and paste it at the end of the file as an "Online Resources" appendix or something. But I personally think including links to everything may be more trouble than its worth as links change and are broken frequently, and I wouldn't want anyone to spend the time putting that together only for the links to be rendered useless the next time Wizards changes the webpage.

Funkamus, I nominate you as Gamer of the Year.

Awesome! Now all I need is a game to play in! Any Central Virginians in the house? :D
Hey Everyone,

The OmegaDex has been updated with all the "Scum and Villainy" goodness.

http://www.mediafire.com/?tjf00gofin2

Still on the "To DO Whenever Funkamus Has Time" List: Class-specific Cheat Sheets, Sorts by Faction and Era, and Dawn of Defiance material.

Enjoy!
Is it too early to nominate you for Gamer of the Year 2009?

Thank you! I really appreciate this!
This is a great project. However, you seem to be missing the Gallofree GR-75 Medium Transport from the lists. It's listed in SotG page 111 under medium transport.

My mistake it's listed under capital ships not transports. Sorry for the misinformation.
If I haven't already said this before, I love this OmegaDex--I use it all the time.

Just thought I would mention, I was flipping through the KotOR CG at Borders the other day (haven't bought it yet) and noticed that on the first page (the page with the black background) of the Galactic Gazeteer chapter there's an 'A' planet (the full name is escaping me) before Arkania that's not included in your list of Planets & Locales. I'm not too surprised it was missed; I miss a lot of things on those first pages of the chapters because I usually expect it to just be fluff.

Yup, I missed Alpheridies. Great catch -- thanks!

I'll make sure I include it in the next update.
Also, just a minor typo on pg. 5, under Crime Lord-Mastermind talent tree. It says "Tactical Withdaraw" instead of "Tactical Withdraw".

Fixed and will be included in the next update.

Thanks!
Page 15, should be "Acclamator", not "Acclimator".

This index is one of the most useful items for both players and GMs. Great job!
Loving the updated version, just amazingly useful. With every new book it gets harder for me to remember what's from where - and now I don't have to. Thanks so much for all your work.

One quick note: 'Visions' is missing from the Force: Sense Talent Tree.
I almost feel bad when I find something missing, because you've done such a great job with this and it's such a benefit to the community...but, you're missing the Discord Missile Launcher from Threats of the Galaxy, pg. 142.

Thanks for the feedback! I've made the corrections (and I don't mind people pointing out the errors, as long as they're not being jerks about it).

As for the Discord Missile Launcher, that was kind of omitted by design as I haven't added a section on vehicle weapons yet (but probably should now that a few more books have included some).

Thanks for the suggestions and keep them dice a'rollin!

I thought that might be the case, but I wanted to make sure.

And if you don't mind people pointing out errors, then here's another little typo: on pg. 18, under Ranged Wpns, should be "Carbonite Rifle", not "Carbonie Rifle".
