So which looks better ? More professional ? Slicker ? Other comments ?
I like the LoN

It's bright, colorful, not too cluttered, and you can see what is going on. I hope that with future service packs, we can get something like that.
Though I'm not a huge fan of the screen's layout, the UI elements are certainly better than MTGO's. The text is easy to read, than the area boundaries are beautiful thin gold pinlines. I really like that part.
The deck builder looks even worse though... You can only see 3,3 cards in it... total.

Anything but nuts is crazy. - We need moar command helemet!

Get the prize winning Gold Skin for your v3 client while it's still here!

Kind of just gives you an idea of where MTGO should have been by now.

Instead we have something that looks like it would be right at home on the Commodore 64.
To be honest, I think the UI in that Microprose game from the 90's had a better UI than this crud they have forced on us with V3.
Yep, it is a nice intereface and the gameplay works well. I have actually been playing that until this 3.0 thing is at least somewhat tolerable. Unfortunately, the game itself is not magic and rather simplistic. Still, not bad.
Wow... I wonder if I could trick someone over there into trading my MTGO account for theirs. :D
You would have thought that with WotC's collaboration with Sony on the PS3 CCG, Eye of Judgment, they could have leveraged that partnership into getting some of Sony's more experienced UI designers/developers to help out on MTGO's UI.

We asked that question back in Dec

go and look at what Elf told us back then... We are getting a Bazarr

WOOT Bazarr FTW
To be honest....I'm much more interested in whether the game itself is good or not. With Magic, I *know* it's awesome.
Right now, I'm pretty comfortable with MTGO 3's UI and can use the various hotkeys and navigate around the client quite well. However, just looking at it from an objective point of view, I can see how it could potentially put off a lot of newcomers and even existing players. It just isn't very intuitive.

I have seen some good improvements, though. The Compact View and closing off the chat box on the right was a huge help to increasing real estate and improving gameplay.
The thing is, the guys at Sony really know a thing or two (or eighty-two) about UI design. Take a look at the EverQuest2 UI (there is a free trial) - its _awesome_. So functional and customizable. And on top of that - its fully moddable, so the community has made a ton of improvements to an already awesome design.

Here, on the contrary, after 5 years of work they still have no idea about the basics. No idea that fat 30-pixel borders are EVIL. That fonts MUST be easy to read or they can single-handedly kill the game. That UI should be conventional (everyone knows where to look for the minimize button for ANY window - that "dash" icon in the upper right corner... wait, it's not there? what gives?) That...
Sigh.
I'm going to have to check that out, is the game any good? Maybe I'll migrate from MTGO.
Was this the game with no more than 16 players logged in at a time?

The Legends of Norrath CCG? Sadly, no, it was boring as hell last I played it. Oh well, seems its either gameplay or interface, can't get both...

Who cares. That interface makes me drooooooooooooooooooooooool.

That interface beats MTGO by a country mile. Seriously. I even like the individual card layout better than MTG's cards.

No, sorry. Way too sci-fi. :P

Hmm, the original MTGO v3 screen shots seem to have a lot more in common with Sony's clean, elegant and uncluttered design prinicples:

if thats what they WERE going to look like, why did they down grade to what it is now? That looks bad ass, and alot easyer to deal with.
Still has that crappy dock, though.

That is one of those questions that we've been wondering about for years now.

I'm hoping they make V3 (the live one) skinnable, and give us that skin back.
I cant believe what i see there and at least what we get.
Want the posted UI, not the crap we recieved.
Serioulsy. What we got compared to this one is horrible. How come they downgraded it so much? Not enough RAM?

The stated reason by Justin Ziran was that it was too sci-fi for the private "friends and family" alpha testers.
