Looking Up (The Skymap)

It occured to me that much of a DM's time while world building is centered around the terrestrial, the ground around us, the ocean, mountains, forests, etc. However much of ancient culture was based around what was above them, the stars, the sun, the planets, and the like.

So it's something to think about with your world.

How many moons does it have?

How many suns?

How many planets can be observed?

What are the names of these bodies?

How many moons does it have?

at least 1. Possibly 2. And a lot of debris. The fist moon is visible like our own. Although it looks shattered. There's a large chunk blown out of it and quite a bit of debris floating close by. The 2nd moon is "dark" & can generally only be observed by magic - thus it's a myth to most of the populations.

How many planets can be observed?

none that can be observed/recognized as such. Any that can be seen are generalized as simply being brighter stars....

What are the names of these bodies?

The Sun, The (white) Moon (local cultures may have different names for it but we've never bothered to establish what those are). The (dark) Moon (different magical orders have different names for it, again, undefined). And the Stars (insert random name as needed, jot it down, & forget about it - until I have to reference it again. Reference it, & commence forgetting again)
