Hello! Just wanted to post a link to the blog page for my homebrew Gamma World conversion to use with the D&D 5E Basic Rules PDF: http://community.wizards.com/content/blog/4113536

Please comment and critique here or on the blog page (the second would be best). Have a good day!

Argh! You son of a ... mutant! You beat me to it. I started plinking away on this a couple years ago. But work, career, mortgage got in the way. Oh man, how I wish I could leave my hellish career path and write things that are really fun like this. *sob*

Well, it looks great so far! I was wondering how your were going to take the goodness of D&D Gamma World's character generation and incorporate it into Next. Looks like you're on the way.

Now I have to decide if I should use your version or continue using the Savage Worlds fan-created version (which is excellent btw).

P.S. just don't do conversions of Gangbusters or Boot Hill and no one will get hurt. *wink*

My only criticism - is there a way to do TWO origins for each character, a la D&D Gamma World. That made character concepting ridiculously fun.

Cheers!

 The Radioactivist

Thanks for the kind words! And yes, I devoted quite a few hours to this project, I admit. Overall it took me about two months BUT for now I'm gonna stop for a while and focus on my University duties (I kinda have to get a graduation :D )... after all, anyone can already find what he or she needs in my PDFs (character creation, monsters, and some environment). I never meant to write modules or fiction, leaving the delight of improvisation to GMs.

As for "D&D GAMMA WORLD" style origins, I guess one could write down a chart with some "bio archetypes" that provide fixed mutations and scores, plus proficiency in a skill, like:

YETI

Ability scores: 16 Strength (or 18 if both bios overlap), 3d6 for others

Proficiency: Athletics

Fixed mutations: Darkvision, Frostborn

Random mutations: One random mutation

which, paired with, for example:

RADIOACTIVE

Ability scores: 16 Constitution (or 18 if both bios overlap), 3d6 for others

Proficiency: Survival

Fixed mutations: Gamma Eyes, Radiation Resistance

Random mutations: One random mutation

which would give us a 16 Str and 16 Con (plus variable other scores) mutant with two proficiencies and six mutations. A bit "better" than the GAMMA FIVE average mutant, but nothing crazy. Can do!
