Ironlightsaber Customs

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/IL043.jpg)

It's been over year since I posted any images of my custom figs so I figure it's about time to post some more. Some were posted before, but I included them so all my mods would appear in a single thread. I just got this camera and it really doesn't do the figs justice but I figure some pics are better than no pics at all. I hope you enjoy.

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/IL001.jpg)

"Admiral Ackbar" was one of my first mods I ever made and I got 4 stitches in my thumb making him. The exacto knife went right through the plastic and down to the bone in my thumb. You might be able to tell which mods were made while I had stitches :P. I made "Bespin Han" as a stand-in fig for nimzomitch until he pulled a RS Han. It was made from a Naboo Soldier and is rather blocky because it was only meant to be a stand in piece. The "Dead Rebel" was made by cutting up a Rebel Trooper, repositioning the pieces and gluing them back to the base.

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/IL002.jpg)

These two E-Web Blasters are not mods but were made from scratch. I used plastic pieces left over from models, bits of metal, half of a Gonk Power Droid and some Sculpey to create them. I also made stat cards for it and other items that I hope to post for others to use. The stats and rules cards are from the Ultimate Mission books, except the rules on jumping which is a mix of all the different UM rules cleaned up into one.

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/IL003.jpg)

Here are some modded "Scout Troopers-Running Toward the Fight". I just cut them at the waist, rotated them a little, glued it and then sculpted the waist to look correct. The arms were cut and pinned as well. The "Dead Trooper" fig was made like the above "Dead Rebel".

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/IL004.jpg)

These are my modded Imperial Officers-"Death Star Officer" was made from an Imperial Officer body with a Rebel Trooper head. "Imperial Officer-Being Choked" was made the body of the above mentioned Rebel Trooper with an Imperial Officer's head. "Imperial Officer-At Attention" was made from Tarkin's body with an Imperial officer's head. Tarkin's head was used for a different mod that you'll see later on.

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/IL005.jpg)

This is a "Twi'lik Sith" with a couple of droid friends from the Death Star. The body of the "Twi'lik Sith" was made from a Klatooninian Enforcer with the head of a Twi'lik Scoundrel. I gave him two lightsabers and Sith tattoos on his lekku to add some personality. "The Death Star Droid" is just an R2 repainted to look like the droid found on the Second DeathStar and the "Interrogation Droid" was made completely from Sculpey. I included the front of the stat card I made for reference.

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/IL006.jpg)

Here's my "Darth Vader-Who's Your Daddy?". The fig was made from RS Darth Vader-Dark Jedi. The scene it's from is still one of the best in all movies. I know that his lightsaber was off when he held his hand out to Luke but I decided to keep it on for the mini.

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/IL007.jpg)

These are a couple of modded Tuskens. The two with staffs were cut, adjusted, pinned and sculpted into different poses. The Tusken on the Bantha and the Tusken on the left were cut at the waist and switched. I've seen that other people have done this switch as well; it's quite simple to do and I highly recommend it.

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/IL008.jpg)

The "Oola-Doomed Dancer" was a Twi'lek Bodygaurd that was completely cut apart at all the joints, pinned and readjusted. I used the staff for the chain and positioned it to look like Jabba was pulling on it. "Bib Fortuna" was a Twi'lek Scoundrel and I hope that WOTC will make one with a CE that improves Jabba. "Boba Fett" was a CS Clone Trooper that I made as a stand-in until I finally got one (I ended up having to buy it).

I know you have a crazy schedule right now, but when can we expect some new coolness? :D
Soon, I hope--maybe some time next week. I have almost finished the fig for the first place winner of the Nexus SWM tournament and will post that. Alnf with scruffynerfherde, I have been busy working on other things for the special event we are hosting after the tournament. If you live in the Lincoln area I hope to see you there.

You're amazing! I've always wanted to see a cooler Grievous. I want to see a Greivous swinging his two front lightsabers like he did vs. Obi-Wan. You know, like the fig could have just a cicular blur as the two front sabers or something. That would be awesome. But I have to hand it to you, there customs are truley breathtaking.

Given all of the positive comments about ironlightsaber's customs at the tournament and special event yesterday, I figure that this thread deserves a .
Some cool looking stuff. I never got into Minis, and I don't have the time I used to so I doubt I will. I did manage to do this:

"Life is like a Dungeon Master, if it smiles at you something terrible is probably about to happen."

These boards are terrible so I dont always check in.  If you need me contat my gmail at BHRPGS.

Bumping out of complete respect and admiration for your beautiful art, ILS.

Finally done with Nexus and making custom cards for the time being. If you haven't checked the Nexus "Rescue the Masters thread--CLICK HERE--to go to page 3 of that thread and check out some of the photos of several of my customs in action.

Below are links to custom cards for some of the previously posted customs, including the ones I made for Nexus and for home Hoth games:

Yoda & Hoth Cards Front
Yoda & Hoth Cards Back

Nexus-"Rescue The Masters" 1 Front
Nexus-"Rescue The Masters" 1 Back

Nexus-"Rescue the Masters" 2 Front
Nexus-"Rescue The Masters" 2 Back

The Yoda is costed as 100 point scenario piece to go up against 100 points of clonetroopers. Fun for a one person game. Please play him before posting that he is too powerful--you might be surprised by what a couple of well played ARC troopers can do.

The Hoth cards have not been tested so if you see this post edited that might mean that they have changed. So print these beta cards and let me know how they work for you.

The Nexus cards have Obi on Speeder and Durge on Speeder. They are both 45 points and make for a nice one-on-one battle. There is also a card for my Grievous custom. Now before you post that he is too powerful (like the above Yoda) try him out. He's made to kick ***** but he can be taken down, just ask scourgeofthenewrepublic.

Poggle is a real fun piece that makes the bugs put up a real fight. Play a 100 point bug swarm army against a couple of Republic Jedi and clones and see who wins.

Now back to modding.....

I almost forgot 2 things--

1. Here's the full description of some of the ablities of Luke-Rogue Leader. They were shorten to fit on the card.
-------
Snowspeeder Pilot (Select one Snowspeeder at the start of
the game. That Snowspeeder is being piloted by
Luke Skywalker, RL. When the Snowspeeder
loses half of it's Hit Points it can no longer
attack. When the Snowspeeder loses all of it's
Hit Points it has crashed-remove it from play
and place Luke Skywalker, RL with full Hit Points
in the center square of the area previously
taken by the base of the Snowspeeder.)

Grappling Hook & Charges (Replaces turn. If
this character is on the base of an AT-AT he can
hoist himself up to the belly of the AT-AT using a
grappling hook and blow it up using his
lightsaber and explosive charges. Roll twice, if
both are 16 or higher he is successful and the
AT-AT is immediatly defeated)
------
I'm planning on using the Snowspeeder card from swminiatures.com.

Let me know what you think of the cards.

and 2)

The awesome 3D terrian we used at Nexus was by the one and only scruffynerfheder. If you haven't seen them check out his customs.

dude frekin sweet could you make say a i dont know a jedi with a lightsaber for an arm and a double lightsaber in his hand.
First off: :OMG! :OMG! :OMG!
Wow...I never knew someone could mod miniatures like that. These are easily the best mods I have seen, and if I knew you, I'd buy you a pint of Heinekin.
I do have one request if you ever run out of ideas; I've been dying to see a miniature of Supreme Overlord Shimerra from the New Jedi Order book series. That would probably cause me to turn rabid, but I'd be one happy lunatic. Keep up the great work.

I like pie.
Greatest miniatures ever modded!
These are easily the best mods I have seen, and if I knew you, I'd buy you a pint of Heinekin.

I know him, and I do buy him beer periodically ;)
Maybe you should buy him paint instead of a pint

that yoda is awesome. and i hate yoda.

it would be cool if he was taking out a Kashyyk Trooper too.

wookies+lightsabers=heckyess.

Just bumping this beautiful thread. Not asking for any more (although that would be great) just letting everyone have a chance to look at the amazing miniatures.
OMG, those customs are so freakin cool! I especially liked the red and black dark jedi. You should try to make Wroth and Anarcis from the Contract of Evil movie. If you haven't seen it, go to theforce.net and look for it in the fanfilms section. Nice Job!
really nice customs!!!! mi favorite is the red dark side adept i would make it for me :D

Seconded, I am going to go make one right now.
Kudos to you, Ironlightsaber.
:OMG!

thats all that needs to be said
:OMG! Best custom minis in the world!!!! :D :D
Well, I posted these when the new boards went up but since they have gone down I thought I would post them again.

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/HPIM1257.jpg)

Two of these ARCs are just repaints of my custom ARCs that were posted earlier to match the colors of my Clonetrooper squad. The other two ARCs are a modded ARC and Clone Commander. I usually only play four ACRs anyway so they work pretty well.

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/HPIM1259.jpg)

This is a repaint of RS Han Solo. It is such a great pose that i didn't want to mess with it, but wanted to have a Han from the best of the series-ESB. I did add the scope to his blaster.

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/HPIM1260.jpg)

These guys are mods of the ROTS Bodyguard Droids that I made for the Nexus event to guard the Grievous mod. In my experience droids are generally easier to mod because of the segments of their bodies. I might make more of these if I get the chance.

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/HPIM1187A.jpg)

I posted this for Father's Day but thought I would include in in the thread to have it all in one place. This too was pretty easy to do and I plan on modding more. I wanted it make it more upright in it's pose and have it look like it is holding the shield to protect more of it's body.

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/HPIM1266.jpg)

Here's my Darth Plagueis custom. I wanted to give him a classic villain look, akin to Dracula and Ming the Merciless but at the same time try to connect him to the other Sith lords of that era. He trained Sidious and most likely created Annikin, so I gave him the sabers that were eventually given to Ventress. I figure that after Sidious killed his master he could easily steal his lightsabers and then later could have passed them on to Dooku to give to Ventress.

I figure he is an elegant fighter as opposed to a hack and slash type and I wanted his pose to reflect that. Plus it helps tie him to Dooku in that respect. I don't have stats and powers figured out for him yet so if you have any suggestions please feel free to let me know.

Magically delicious.

Make stats for Plagueis.
And bring him over to battle.
Nice Plaigues!
CHR1110 - Member of the original Wizards boards since 2005...
got it can you make some halo minis

aka
master chief
elites
grunts
jackles
brutes
hunters
drones
marines

if you did you would increase your fanbase even more
:OMG! :OMG! :OMG!
I love them!!! they look so cool.
I had no Idea you could make miniture look so good.

I like your Jangos, all your Druges and droids, the interregation droid. And the ones I would buy (If I had the money LOL) Like the Queen sith witch; I love the paint job, The evil/Empor and Vader clones, the Acklays and I love the part were yoda and obi-wan go back to the temple and you see yoda kicking ass. Thats the only peice/part were you see that yoda cause some damage.

I'm just wondering how much somthing like the queen sith witch (minimum change and paint job) and the yoda killing the clone. (fully changed) not really looking to buy but may think about it if they're in my price range.
Ironlightsaber how many Durges do you have because i would buy one if you had an extra unmodded one.
Ive looked through this whole thread time and time again, and it still amazes me how cool alot of these are!
How did you shape the front of Durges speeder? Was it just nad skills, or a mold?
I haven't had a chance to make stats for Darth Plagueis yet. I have only played HALO a few times and I have very little time to make customs so I don't think I'll be making any HALO mods soon--sorry.

My time is very limited right now due to a six month old that needs lots of attention that I gladly give him. Thanks to everyone for bumbing this thread. I hope to mod more when I get the time....

The front of Durge's speeder was made from Sculpty, a piece of scrap from another fig and a good deal of trial and error. I made the bottom jaw pieces fit the top skull piece so it would look convincing. Now that the YKD is coming out it will interesting to see how close I was.

Here's my latest--Sith Assassin Droid

IMAGE(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/ironlightsaber/HPIM1345.jpg)

It was made from the spare pieces left over from the three BARC speeders mods found earlier in this thread. I wanted it to look like it belonged to the same army as the SAD but crossed with a bird of prey.

Now to find time to finish the art for the next S3.......

I've had the privilege of seeing many of Iron's customs in person a while back at a tourney held at Krypton Comics in Omaha. If you think that they look awesome here on the boards, then you should see them in person - they are even more amazing!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Wizards needs to hire this guy up for the SW Minis design team.

Yet another great custom, Iron.

Wizards, wake up and send this man a contract!
Awesome! Seriously, all of your mods are terrific! I was linked here by a friend and I just had to post. Fantastic work - keep it up. :D

One mod I'd like to do personally is the ARC trooper mod (never can get enough ARCs). In your opinion, what is the best Clone Trooper to model for it, and what do you use for the skirt ('Sculpey', but I have no idea if that is a brand name or slang) ? Thanks! Once again, great work!
The current issue of the German Star Wars Insider has a four page article about our favorite game--Star Wars Miniatures.

Along with Magic Eli's great 3D art, some of my customs are featured in the article. Below are scans of the cover and the article, which are followed by the original photos that my friend Dustin took for it.

I was offered a place in Skyre (Or woteva) once but never did find out if I made it or not!
Very Impressive work. Excellent job on those customs!
I've never seen customs that were so far superior to the real miniatures. Your work is incredible, and you may possibly be the best Star Wars Miniature Customizer in the world.
what do you use to meld the figures back together? Simple super glue? Is there a kind of adhesive escpecially for minis?
Awesome work, Ironlightsaber. I was showing your work to one of the members of my gaming group last night. He's a former Warhammer player and he was putting money on the fact that at some point you had to have been one too.

Again, amazing work.
Even though all the stuff you did is amazing, my favorite was probably one of easiest for you to customize. The Battledroid on Stap - just raising him up really adds a whole new dimension to the figure. Makes it totally different - and better.
Thanks for the feedback.

Benny_Poop almost any clone can be used to make an ARC. I did use Sculpty but if I were to do more I would probably use paper.

adliv666 I hope Skyre (Or woteva) prints your stuff. If anyone has it, please scan and post.

NuteFunray I haven't played too much Warhammer. I played SpaceHulk which is in the same realm, but Warhammer stuff was just too expensive for me to get into back in the day. I did paint some miniatures for D&D when I was in high school and college but I really didn't get into minatures like this until this game came along.

With this long weekend I hope to get a chance to do some repaints or customs.
