Oh, I didn't notice that! Cool!

Jason Engle's work rocks!

He's my favorite artist.
Thank you very much! I'll just add my praise to the pile. :pile:
Hi guys ive just found this thread and some of your modifications are incredible, RavingDork yours kinda goes without saying.

My character is a Gnome healer (female) light skin, violet hair thanks to the bloody rod of wonder and green eyes, hair and hair doesnt matter too much but i quite like the eyes. She usually wears white robes with a red trim and if anything carries a rod of wonder.

I found this pic that i think is rather fitting if mabye the colours could be modified, ive had a hard time finding suitable gnome pics so anything would be awesome!

Thanks in advance:D

Hey RavingDork could you make this orc have two whole teeth?

Your bigger pic was the same size as the one you posted, so I tracked down a higher resolution version. I have a couple of different versions sblocked for you below...

What do you call an Orc without teeth?

Answer: A dead Orc.

While looking for a better version of the pic, I stumbled across an AWESOME art gallery.

YOU ALL SIMPLY MUST CHECK OUT THIS AWESOME ART GALLERY!

You simply must! (Be sure to check out all three years, 2006-2008.) Super kudos to anyone who can find me the artist's name and/or his personal art gallery.
Couple new requests, if anyone can help.

A) Male changeling factotum (or rogue, if it's easier) in black leather, carrying a whip-dagger and/or a rapier). Bonus cookie if you can also include a composite longbow.

B) Female Shoanti (human variant from Pathfinder) barbarian, well-built (sorta bodybuilder-like), lightly tanned or ruddy skin, wearing no armor -- leather and maybe furs; oh, and bald.

Ravingdork, I am sure you must have noticed, but the pictures has a signature of A. Smith.

I dont know if that helps but it is all i got for ya.

EDIT: I also found one listed as Chris Anderson
Absolutely impressive. I was hoping to see more of the face and hair, but my bad for not mentioning it.

Cookie for you anyway!

I'm specifically looking for the guy who does all the pictures with the artist's mark that resembles a black skull with three downward prongs and two upward prongs (check the green orc pics above to see what I mean). I find that I enjoy working iwth his style more than most others.
Super sneaky/charismatic/greedy elf rogue. Unaligned (closer to the evil side, stealing and stuff, you know)

psychopathic assassin spirit bound to a magical dagger.

Wow. I went back to the initial pages to see if there were any requests that hadn't been taken (or taken very seriously) and it just occured to me that this is a very different thread then from when it was created. Is it's current direction better? If not, is it my fault that it is going the way it is?
I personally think it's a great resource for those of us without artistic talent, or mad photoshopping skillz.
Defintetely like this direction.

Ah, but before random people would hop in and test our photo-finding skills just to see if we could do it--just for a little fun. Now, I rarely see anyone who isn't a repeat customer in this thread. Where have all the forumites gone?

Before, it was like a game, someone would pop in and post their character concept/stats/whatever and a second person would try to find a picture for it. Then, that second person would have earned the right to post a concept of his/her own in hopes of getting a cool pic.

Now, it seems like it's largely just me taking requests alone, struggling to deal with the sheer volume of requests while facing college mid-terms.

Make no mistake, I enjoy doing it (probably too much), but I thought that after giving away links to all my bookmarked art sites (and posting cool new art sites as I come across them) that more people would be jumping in on the thread and helping find awesome new pictures for people.

I'm kind of glad my picture packet never got uploaded. It would have spelled the end for this thread. Once people had downlaoded a few thousand fantasy/sci-fi pics, what need do they have for this thread anymore?

This post isn't a complaint or a rant. It's an open call for new volunteers to step up and utilize the art sites discussed elsewhere in this thread (among others) to help find art to fill the incoming requests as quickly and accurately as we can. After all, I have mid-terms to worry about. :P

Ooh, bonus cookie to Raving Dork for going back and adding the longbow and the whip-dagger to the changeling pic!

Heck, take two! You've earned them.

Anyone have any ideas for the barbarian?

I tend to give my characters all kinds of weird clothing, so unless I had some commissioned I probably wouldn't find any that matched. However, I want to see how this thread works, so without further ado:

Thieran ac Telecontar: Human nobleman/historian/swordsman/mage/holy knight. Shoulder-length black hair, red headband with two griffon feathers stuck through it. Black longcoat, leather armor, garish red silk trousers. And a bandolier across the leather shirt.

Raxila Kaarone: Female Orc warrior, with hide and chainmail armor. Nize sword at her hip, and a purple shield and a halberd on her back. Wears a dark blue fedora. :D

Khania Jewelmane: Minotaur pirate with a magical rapier at her side, red and gold boots and black gloves. Red furred, with ebony horns.

I know these are farfetched, so I will be most impressed if any art shows up. Enough to give a pet dragon to anyone who can.

Again? I had no idea when I looked at this thread that RavingDork was so good at photoshopping, so there may be some hope for me yet.

I'm randomly popping in and brutally testing yer photoshop skills, RavingDork! Keeping the thread alive!

Oh, and RavingDork, I must say you're doing a wonderful job here, deserving of a round of applause. Bravo!

Ahh yes, the Warhammer Online concept art gallery. I'd forgotten about that, although I've been following the production of that game for a couple years now. Now that the game is released, I ferget about all the cool stuff archived on the site! Truly some epic artwork in there.

You could probably check the game credits to see who the character concept artists are...
"You'll find most of us have not already done nearly as much searching as you have and aren't nearly as good at finding or editing the content. I have been using the artists galleries I find here to my advantage, but sometimes I have a character more specific than any, such as my wolf-pelt wearing half-elf."

"I could also use a kobold 'artificer type' (I dunno how best to describe it), but one important thing is that its left hand isn't in the picture, or that it has a crossbow where its left hand should be."
"Don't ask me about the way I type, at best, I'll ignore you (or have no intention of actually reading the thread I posted in again). If I respond, it will probably be sarcastic. I could explain it here, but really, why should I? I am asked often, and usually in a rude and condescending manner, and so, giving the answer here would only serve to satisfy the curiosity of a bunch of stupid people I don't care to grant that benefit. Also, if it annoys you, just remember that somewhere out there, my spirits were lifted, because I really like annoying people that are close-minded enough to be annoyed by something as minor as that; not to mention, there are a good number of people on the internet who can't even bother to learn to write American English (or any other form of English, I can't make criticisms about languages in which I am not proficient) properly (people for whom it is their first language), and that is far more irritating, yet commonly accepted."

I never realized how disconcerting it was to put quotation marks around paragraphs that do not need them.

It's like referring to yourself in third person, but different.

Ravingdork, thank you so much for the picture
WoTC has gotten rid of the forums I came to know and love, if you think that the old Gleemax forums should be restored, add this to your signature.

My pleasure! :D
Alright, this is an odd request, I am looking for a specific picture, It is int he 3rd edition players handbook on paper, but not in the galleries, its of a rapier wielding rogue with tan skin, short black hair in a bandana wearing black leathers with red trim. Similar to this

but not quite.

I am sure if you joined the forums for Warhammer 40K Online you would be able to find the answer. Afterall, that is what all those pictures are for. Basic artist rendering of the NPC / PC's they are going to be putting into that MMO when it comes out.

RD - the symbol yer talking about is actually the Warhammer Online "WAR" logo... It's actually the letters W A R, seen in belt-buckle form, ball-cap form, and on the last newsletter (among other places on the WH Online site). So sorry, it's not just one artist... ;)

That last link to the final newsletter does have a list of the design artists, it's fairly long though...

Ugh. Well, now that I know that I can stop looking for an artist that doesn't exist and start looking for more Warhammer art galleries. It still seems weird to me though, the art style is SO similiar between pictures I could have sworn it was just one or two artists. :embarrass
RavingDork, i gave you two artists names ><
RavingDork, i gave you two artists names ><

Chris Anderson isn't the one I'm looking for. His art looks different.

As for the other...

..."A. Smith?" Seriously? There's a kajillion artist's in the world named "A. Smith." Searches yield kajillion's of worthless results.

EDIT: But of course that isn't enough to stop my supreme search fu. His name is Adrian Smith, and though his art galleries do resemble what I am looking for, I don't think it's the guy who does all the pretty elves and such.
I think I'll go ahead and throw my two favorite characters out there:

"Honest" Artuuri:
 • Race & Class: Half-elf Rogue.
 • Weapon of choice: 1 (one) Scimitar.
 • Physical traits: Deeply tanned skin, dark eyes, black hair braided closely along the scalp, draconic runes tattooed into the left side of his head (hair shaved over that portion).
 • Personality traits: Considers himself a "smooth talker", prefers non-violent conflict resolution, frequently lands himself in trouble with the law but usually for petty offenses, had the draconic runes for "lies" and "money" branded into his skull as punishment for larceny and perjury. Always lies when people ask what the brands mean, and always with a different explanation.
 • State of dress: Simple black shirt and trousers worn under leather armor.

James of Ilmater:
 • Race & Class: Human Cleric (of Ilmater).
 • Weapon of choice: Longsword.
 • Physical traits: Jim is very young (16) but has hardened features from being raised in a temple of Ilmater (god of suffering "but in a good way"). Chestnut brown hair, green eyes, cleanshaven, pale skin with freckles and frequently sunburned. Does not attempt to hide or even dress wounds properly. Has a number of tiny, white-lined scars, but nothing one would notice at a glance.
 • Personality traits: Jim was raised by a sect of Ilmater which preaches seeking out those who suffer and suffering on their behalf. This sect opposes those worshippers of Ilmater who simply seek donations and flog themselves for their benefactor's sins. Jim is quiet, prone to contemplative prayer involving a "prayer cord" wrapped around the arm to painfully cut off circulation, and has an unnerving tendency to throw himself into danger. Jim's crowning moment was running into a burning building to drag out an innocent and nearly dying in the process.
 • State of dress: Jim wears mundane and clunky full plate bought second-hand. He had Ilmater's mark carved into the left breast but the armor remains featureless otherwise.

Obviously I don't expect any art to match these descriptions perfectly. I'm just curious to see how close we can get.

I've recently started my first 4th ed character after DMing for almost a year and would really love an evocative picture, but dont really have time (im still DMing another campaign and working on a 4th ed setting) to play around on photoshop.

my character; Ruthui, is a female elf ranger with green hair, she uses two longswords, and wears laether armour. however im looking for a pic that also features her identical twin sister Thalia who is an elemental [thread=1050195]Druid[/thread] with a symbol of milikki attached to her chest with piercings.

Also, if anyone is inspired; any pics of the races in my homebrew setting would be greatly appreciated (link in my sig)

All righty, I'll take a shot.

Well, unfortunately, as you seemed to have expected, I didn't get the exact descriptions correct, but they are pretty close...

He doesn't have the braids, but the fact that he has the "runes" on the left side of his face, black hair, and even has a scimitar in the picture, I think it's a winner.

IMAGE(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v365/DemonQueenB/EnagoGAIASMALL.jpg)

And very honestly, the second description reminds me very much of this guy right here...Well... except for the whole "pale n' freckled" part.IMAGE(http://www.lequotidienducinema.com/critiques/chevalier_critique/ch3.jpg)Hell, the markings on the plate mail even kinda look like Ilmater's bound hands. Hope that's somewhat what you were going for.

Also I would also like to request a description for this character:

A smallish (5,3,,) wood elf who has terrible burn scars over his entire body and only uses armor and items that he has made for himself while in the forest. Archery specialist, if he has to melee, he uses two crystal, purple, longswords, he prefers to cover up his deformities AND his animal companion is a hellhound (don't ask). If anyone can deliver anything close to that, I shall tip my hat.
(If stats help at all, 17STR, 22DEX, 15CON, 12INT, 16WIS, 4CHA)

Cheers and good day.

-Mr Misanthrope
Ok here is my shot at my current character.

Veris Nightstar (noble born and current heir of Nightstar clan of Myth Drannor)
Male Moon Elf Swordmage
Silver hair, Blue Eyes, younger looking (under 100)
Uses fancy elven longsword
Wears leathers or fancy outfit (house colors are blue, silver, and Violet)
He is a smooth talking diplomat for the house and for Myth Drannor.
Google must hate me, because I can't find a picture for what's essentially a pretty simple picture...so here I am.

Any chance of an old man, with plate armor and a spear? Bonus points if he looks tired ;) Appreciate it.
Not exactly plate

Unfortunately no spear due to cropping

A bit cartoony

A bit small but plate-ish armor. Too bad it was cropped; definitely looks like there is more to the picture.

Those are all links to the pictures. I obviously had them cached when I checked if the links worked but it should be fine.
i'm looking for a grim, dark-haired, male, hispanic psoin.
this ones a toughy!:D

There isn't. That's from Age of Mythology, and they don't have full body shots of any of the gods.

no, but a Google image search for "Odin" would probably yield several good pics.
Hi. Non-repeat customer here.

How about this: a 10 year old female schizophrenic wizard with black hair, preferably blue eyes, from a Ravenloft-type setting.
