Which Deity?

I wanted to do a poll, but I don't see that option on these forums, so just thought I'd ask and then count them up.

What Deity does your character follow?

I ask because it seems very 1-sided in our game. Here's what we've got:

Human Cleric: Ioun
Tiefling Warlock: Corellon (Fey)
Elven Ranger: Morella

Dragonborn Paladin: Kord
Eladrin Wizard: Kord
Human Ranger: Kord

Just odd coincidence? Probably.....
So I can be like everybody else!!! :D :D :D You are Red/Blue!
Personally most of my characters don't follow a god, or is in a setting with custom gods/no gods whatsoever.

But the few I have made just based around core 4e, the god that comes up most often is The Raven Queen (who doesn't love a god that is essentially Morrigan) and then Sehanine (Autumn is my favourite month and Trickery is always fun).
In my primary game: Kord, Sehanine, Corellon, Moradin, Pantheon, ?, ?, ?

In my second game: Melora, Kord, unaligned, unaligned, ?

My characters: Kord (Str Paladin/Warlord), Sehanine (Rogue), Melora (Cleric)
A summary of recent characters, dating back a few years:
4e:
Human Ranger: Kord
Tiefling Warlord: Asmodeus
3e:
Human Barbarian: Kord
Halfling Barbarian: The celestial Gwynharwyf.
1/2 Orc Fighter: Stratis.
Human Cleric: St. Cuthbert
Human Cleric/Rogue: Joramy
1/2 E Bard: Olidammara.
My group-

Eladrin wizard-Correlon
Minotaur Fighter-Pelor
Dwarf Cleric-Moradin(shocking right)
Doppelganger Feylock-Claims Melora, but really Zehir(everyone thinks "she's" an elf)
Dwarf Ranger-Platinum

Not kidding on the last one. It's on his character sheet. I asked him if e meant bahamut the platinum dragon, he sadi "Nope, classic greedy dwarf. Loves gold. Platinum is worth more than gold, so he worships it. Gods are on the backburner."
So far, none of my characters follow God's from the PH... but that doesn't mean I won't eventually.

Elf Ranger: Melora

Another one that I'd consider in the character creation process is probably the Raven Queen.
My dragonborn cleric: Bahamut, and fanatical about it
My human warlord, Ioun (tactical presence, of course!).
We used the KotS pregens, so we had a cleric of Bahamut at one point.

We've had one Paladin, who worships Avandra.

I haven't played a cleric or paladin, so no gods.
Another day, another three or four entries to my Ignore List.
In my party-

Eladrin Wizard - Corellon.
Human Ranger - Pelor.
Tiefling Feylock - Sehannine.
Half-Elf Warlord - Pelor.
Elven Rogue - Avandra.

And the NPCs...

Elven Rogue - Sehannine.
Tiefling Paladin - Pelor.
Dragonborn Cleric - Bahamut.
Dragonborn Fighter - Melora.
Here's mine:

Tiefling Ranger - Melora (though he also pays respect to Sehanine)
(Heavily Re-Flavored/Modified)Nightwalker Fighter - The Raven Queen (Kind of obvious, there...)
Human Paladin - Kord
Birdies!
Well we have a small group so each person plays two characters.

My Elf Ranger ostensibly pays homage to Corellon as creator of the Elves etc...but he owes a lifedebt to The Winter Queen of the Fey, and so is far more involved in fey politics than that of the divine. (although he does not serve the Queen entirely willingly.)

My other character, a human Warlord I haven't decided for yet, but its either Kord (the obvious choice) or possibly the Raven Queen.

The other player has a Wizard (Ioun) and his Paladin of Ioun bodyguard.
In my group we have;

A Half Elf Paladin following Bahamut,
An Elf Ranger following Melora if I remember right...
A Half Elf Warlock who I believe is unaligned, last I saw/heard,
and my Dwarf Cleric follows Pelor.

I had thought seriously about Kord for my character at first, but the tenets of Kord weren't really the direction I wanted to see my character go.
Valarna Duskweaver, eladrin swordmage: Sehanine
Kyrwen Keltai, elf ranger: Avandra
Arkham Rand, human star-pact warlock: None ("Worship a bunch of moralising, self-righteous hypocrites who are so bored with eternity that they made a hobby out of screwing around with a world they couldn't even have built without the help of the primordials? Pah! I have had dealings with far older and more powerful entities than mere 'gods'...")
Kai-Dierdre ('Stormspear'), shadar-kai warlord: the Raven Queen (well, duh!)
Syrdon Flametongue, tiefling wizard: Lolth (although he is not remotely devout, nor is he really evil - he mostly just has a thing for drow females...)
"There's an old saying that all it takes for evil to triumph is that good people do nothing. I've always had a problem with that. If you do nothing to oppose evil, then how are you 'good'? To turn aside and allow evil to flourish is to collaborate with it. You ask for mercy. You claim you have done nothing. The Raven Queen. Damn, she's popular.
The Raven Queen. Damn, she's popular.

A deity who is a cross between the Morrigan and Neil Gaiman's Death of the Endless? How could she not be popular? ;)

My Half-Elf Warlord and Halfling Ranger both worship Avandra, and I have a Human Cleric of Sehanine (he's a hopeless romantic who sees love EVERYWHERE!).

In the game with my Halfling there's another Ranger, a Dragonborn, who worships Erathis and prefers civilisation to nature and a Cleric of Melora who is played basically like a Druid with a heavy focus on the healing part (he spent a whole night healing wounded at some point).

My cleric is fighting alongside a Tiefling Paladin of Bahamut.

The divinity favored by others doesn't really come much into play for me to know.

The Raven Queen. Damn, she's popular.

Only some people become strong, noble, or greenthumbed, but everybody dies.
I haven't played a cleric or paladin, so no gods.

I will note that playing a lay worshiper can always be an interesting roleplaying idea, especialy with the new emphasis on faith and religion that I read about.

If I knew who either of those two were, I might be able to answer that.

(I'm assuming you don't mean Morrigan Aensland from Darkstalkers, at least. Her I'm familiar with.)
Another day, another three or four entries to my Ignore List.
My current group is:
Dragonborn Cleric - Bahamut
Dragonborn Paladin - Bahamut
Human Wizard - Bahamut
Tiefling Warlock - none
Human Rogue - nothing overt
Dwarf Fighter - Moradin, but not overly devout

For the most part, the Bahamut worshippers are all very devout, and the others pretty much just get out of the way when the Tiamat worshippers show up.
My group is :
Half-Elf Paladin / Starlock - Raven Queen
Eladrin Cleric - Sehanine
Dragonborn Fighter - Kord
Human Hellock - ? not sure

The Morrigan is a Celtic goddess of War, Death and general calamity.

Death of the Endless is from Neil Gaiman's Sandman series (DC Comics Vertigo line, I believe), although she's spun off a few titles of her own.
That Death is the cutest Death ever. :D

I have a drow NPC who has a very sick and twisted perception of Lolth as the Weaver of Fates and Guardian of the Web of the Cosmos. Far from being a "cruel and capricious" demon goddess, he sees her as a careful architect, tenderly weaving and mending the Web to maintain it's consistency and stability. As a spider waits patiently for food to stumble into its web, so too does this sect of drow that Olbaid comes from believes that Lolth teaches them patience in life and steadfastness in the face of adversity. They believe she is a kind and wise deity.

Yeah, they're a sick bunch, all right.
A total not counting NPCs:

Kord: 11
Sehanine: 8
Bahamut: 7
Melora: 7
Avandra: 5
Corellon: 5
The Raven Queen: 5
Pelor: 4
Ioun: 3
Moradin: 3
Erathis: 2
Asmodeus: 1
Gwynharwyf: 1
Joramy: 1
Lolth: 1
Olidammara: 1
St. Cuthbert: 1
Stratis: 1
Zehir: 1

Looks like Kord is winning =p
Yeah... skewing the statistics with my wierdness, there.

Maybe you shouldn't count my 3e chars, regarding overall data.
Joramy's gonna be all over 6th edition, I'm sure. :D
I originally didn't count them. But, the OP didn't specify any edition, so I didn't think it fair to leave them out.
Tiefling Paladin of The Raven Queen :D
Elf Ranger: Melora

Another one that I'd consider in the character creation process is probably the Raven Queen.

I'm itching for a revamp of the Hunter of the Dead just so I can roll up a Raven Queen cleric or paladin & take the paragon path/build, punishing those who defy death.

Hmmm... Since I'm gonna be playing in the Realms, I guess worshipping Kelemvor will do just fine, too.
I wanted to do a poll.

hey sphynx01,

maybe you could keep a tally and edit the first post to show the number for each god and/or primordial. i would love to get a quick and dirty look at what this community of players is choosing.

tx.
NERULL !!
I haven't had a chance to be a player in 4E yet, but my party is kind of as such:

Dragonborn Paladin - Bahamut
Eladrin Feylock - Melora
Elven Cleric - Ioun
Dwarven Fighter - None in Particular

If I were to play a character (which may or may not happen based on whether I can find a group looking for a player not a DM) then I would be inclined to make a character who takes after Melora or Avandra. Those two interest me the most out of them all, the Raven Queen is not far behind...
3e characters:
Modified pixie cleric=Mask
Medusa Bard=Wuakeen, Eilistraee, Sune
Drow Cleric=Eilistraee
Sun Elf Wizard/Lich=Wee Jas
4e character:
Extremely modified human rogue=The Marvel comics version of Death*

*This whole character was a rip-off of Deadpool.
Heres my groups Deity breakdown

Human Balanced Wizard(my char) - Kord
Halfling Dodger Rogue- Avandra
Eladrin Charisma Feylock- No deity
Tiefling Paladin- Unknown
Dragonborn Fighter- Unknown
Dwarf Cleric- The Raven Queen

I have a personal preference for the Raven Queen...

@SavevsDeath: Didn't WotC get rid of you? :D

I am both rational and instinctive. I value self-knowledge and understanding of the world; my ultimate goal is self-improvement and improvement of the world around me. At best, I am focused and methodical; at worst, I am obsessive and amoral.
My most recent character is a Dragonborn Rogue, so Tiamat was an obvious choice, considering how I was planning to play him.

Now that I think of it, many of my characters have worshiped draconic gods, even non-dragon characters. :/ Eh...
Well, if you've got enough firepower to get dragons to worship your presence, the smaller, squishier mortals might see the light very quickly. Beats being eaten.

I'd be interested to hear a Kordian wizard gets roleplayed.
(Not to be confused with Accordion Wizard, from the inevitable gnome book)
Right now I'm playing a Dragonborn Paladin of the Raven Queen in the middle of a severe crisis of faith after his whole clan (which was basically a mercenary army dedicated to the Raven Queen) was destroyed in battle! Our cleric was a Dwarf also dedicated to the Raven Queen, but to her fate aspect. Interestingly we did not get along at all as we constantly disagreed about the proper dogma. When a new player entered our group yesterday who is going to play a Dwarven Cleric of Erathis he used that opportunity to built a new character as he was becoming somewhat bored with the class. At the end of his last session we were both drunk and got into an angry theological argument which we took outside, the rest of the group now thinks I killed him but I don't remember because of the alcohol (I am missing my scythe though...)

But anyway, distracting stories aside:

Dragonborn Paladin: Raven Queen
Dwarven Cleric1: Raven Queen
Dwarven Cleric2: Erathis
Half-elf Warlock: Corellon
Human Wizard: None
My Character: Dragonborn Rogue-Vecna

First group:
Dragonborn Paladin: Bahamut
Eladrin Wizard: Avandra
Human Rogue: none presumably
Human Rogue: lipservice to Erathis
Tiefling Ranger: none, though probably wise respect for Melora

Current group:
My dragonborn guy (BIG V! Woo-hoo!)
Tiefling Warlord: Pretty anti-religion
Tiefling Warlock: Not sure
Human Wizard/Cleric: Erathis
Human Fighter: Not sure
Now with 100% more Vorthos!
