Our unlikely bunch of heroes were brought together this day, when a surprise attack took place on the town where the party was staying. Forced to fight beside one another for there own safety and that of the patrons of the tavern with whom they were enjoying their evening meal.
After dispatching with the hobgoblins trashing the tavern, the heroes looked outside to see a strange sight: an ogre pulling a cart with two hobgoblins riding on the back. The ogre was tossing pitch kegs into buildings as they rounded the corner of the tavern. So our heroes took to the streets! They brought down the ogre and his hobgoblin friends quite quickly.
That night each of the heroes was given free room and board, and awoke to the once-barmaid, Alys, at their doors quite early the next day, giving them each a letter from Lord Eoffram Troyas, requesting a meeting. After a hearty breakfast and introductions to each other, our heroes head off to their meeting, and convince Lord Eoffram that they are the right group for the job of rescuing the people and items stolen during the previous day’s distraction.
A hobgoblin captain was captured, and our heroes were able to interrogate him into finding out where his companions were headed, a stronghold called Rivenroar in the Wyrmsmoke Mountains.
Our heroes are soon on their way, and about halfway through their journey, encountered a nest of kruthiks that nearly ended the tail for more than one of our heroes. They crossed the Elsir River at Drellin’s Ferry and headed into the mountains. They carefully navigated the final resting place of local wyverns at Skull Gorge, and found Rivenroar not long after.
They descended into the catacombs of Rivenroar and began their quest in truth, fighting a handful of goblins and hobgoblins, and learned that there would be many tricks on their way, with mobile braziers tossing fire across the room, all beginning with the opening of a door.
