My ProfileAbout Me
About Me:
A brief and still boring bio:
I was born in Ft. Worth, TX, and lived there for the first five years of my life. As a result, I like to wear cowboy boots, say "ma'am" and "y'all" a lot, and really enjoy spicy food. I moved to the mountains of CO and lived in a tiny "town" called Coal Creek Canyon there for the rest of my early childhood. It was the sort of place were people moved to if they didn't like dealing with other human beings. As a result, I am a bit peculiar myself and am perfectly happy to be alone. I started playing D&D at 10 during recess in 5th grade. My first DM was Mark Esquibel, and I still hate that guy. Despite the negative experience, I was hooked on the game. I moved around CO a bit, including south of Broomfield and Golden, graduating from Golden High School (Go Demons! Coolest mascot ever.) Then I lived in Denver and Wheatridge (Go Farmers! Lamest mascot ever.) I stopped playing D&D in favor of GURPS, which was much more diverse. I started to play a couple of games from a little company called Wizards of the Coast, Talislanta and Magic. I even owned some beta cards and Arabian Nights I purchased myself at one point. I finally retreated from the first Bush recession to my mother's in Evergreen. I got a job managing a comic book store and we sold Magic cards hand over fist. I also started selling D&D, because no distributer we dealt with would carry GURPS. All four (including our Canadian) distributors said dealing with Steve Jackson was not worth the trouble. I got married, had a couple of kids, finished my second degree, and moved to Clinton, MO, just because the price of the house was right. That same year 3rd Ed came out and I got back on the D&D bandwagon. I liked the d20 license, in particular. I formed a group (no mean trick) in my little town. I also wrote an article for Dragon ("Realistic Religion" #283), several monsters for White Wolf (inc. the Storm Phoenix and the Fossil Ghoul), and a couple of PDF products (A Turn of Events for Silverthorne, and the QuickSheets which turned into a 'donationware' download made popular by Morrus of ENWorld.) I was still frustrated by the rules heavy 3rd ed, and happily jumped ship to 4th. I currently run 3 campaigns, two on alternating Sundays and a kids group for friends of my two youngest children during the week. All that and I'm almost finished with a third degree. Yahoo!
