Hey, I'm trying to not insult too many of you until I get accepted
And I have a habit of putting my foot into all the wrong places
Makes me entertaining at dance parties
If anyone admitted to liking twilight around here, I have the distinct feeling they wouldn't remain much longer so I don't think you have to worry.

I've always been in favor of just accepting finished community projects without a vote. I think voting is only needed if a work is done by a small group of people who might have gone astray. But for large projects, I think you have enough oversight from people to just accept it as is.
For large projects, i don't think they should qualify someone for a seat. I think you need to take ownership of a product to prove your qualifications. Sure, you might have a good idea for a water plane, but that's different from writing a story by yourself.
… and then, the squirrels came.

Hmmm... I don't know, though. Like Cogminded said, the goal of HAVING a vote is to have a system set up of comment and critique. I think it's reasonable to look at large projects and say this set of people is really good at giving constructive comments, keeping things on track, differentiating between good and crap ideas, and so on. There are a number of people in that other thread that seem to have those qualities--they aren't just good idea generators, they're good at evaluating and weighing the ideas of others. In other words, this project is allowing them to demonstrate their abilities to judge, which is exactly the thing we're looking for. Cogminded, for example, is doing a good job so far with the whole judgment thing.

It's moments like this that I wish I was capable of a Barinellos style Eldritch horror moment as I taunt you with
THE HORRIFIC EFFECTS OF MY MIGHTY JUDGEMENT AS YOUR PUNY SEAS BOIL AND YOUR MIND SHATTERS INTO INFINITELY SMALL SPECKS OF DUST, DOOMED TO FOREVER FLOAT THE AETHER WINDS OF MY FICKLE DESIRES
Or, ya know, something like that.

Better question, what does Nicol Bolas want with the lightbulb?

I'm kinda with Skibo here: The large projects already have a lot of eyes on them. I don't see why we then have to vote on them when we are already getting so much feedback during the process.

Wait, how did that even become a topic of conversation? I wasn't even asking anything about that.

I'm just asking about when it gets entered into the archives, since there are multiple authors, and since you can vote if you have a work in the archives, do those authors get to vote? My impulse is to say yes, conditionally, based on what Cogminded said--we should go through and select the people who have really contributed good ideas and let them into the fold.
