Welcome to everyone I haven't already (I tend to forget about welcoming people).
And a question to the M:EM'rs at large: When did the "Dross" become part of the forums here? And who decided what was put down there?
Most of it makes sense, mind you, but that stuff isn't off-limits or anything, right?

I suppose the downside is that it would be just like now, only in the future. And I couldn't get on the internet for places like this, because... well... you saw the episode. Not that going online full-body wouldn't be cool...
All I know is that this place would be a lot steamier if we went in full body.
And I'd blame Keeper for it.

the Dross became a thing when we had several projects that had been abandoned because the people working with them vanished. In general, it's a place where unfinished things that are likely to remain unfinished go.
But they aren't off limits. That's actually sort of the point of the forum, to scavenge and reclaim what might have worked from projects that ultimately died.
Basically, if it is in the dross, the original authors have no say if you jack something from the work since they let it drop to the dross in the first place.

Anywho, I'd first like to (big letters) APOLOGIZE FOR TAKING OVER THE FRONT PAGE EVERY TIME I'M AWAY FOR A FEW DAYS.
Second, I'm kind of glad for that (what Barinellos said). Although I couldn't help but notice how Scargotto's original thread ended up in the Dross. Did I make a mistake in making a new one for it in the Archive? Shoudl I have moved the thread? Are there any accepted rules in doing these things? Am I asking too many questions? What's the square root of pi?

Hi!
I was thinking of joining in here, if it wouldn't be a bother to anyone. I'm a long time Magic player who wants to improve my writing skills, and this seems like a good place to do that. I will probably lurk around for a while longer before making any actual contributions, but I have some ideas I would eventually want to throw into this community. I don't have the time or attention span to read this whole thread right now, so could someone tell me if there is a system in place for what a new guy should do first? Anyway, I'm looking forward to bouncing some ideas around with you guys!
I made a Phage the Untouchable  commander deck, but I kept losing on turn seven. I live a traveling life, and have no assured internet access. If I am active in a thread, and then suddenly vanish for several days, it is not because of anyone on the forums (unless it actually is).

We would love for you to join!
There is no official "system" for new members, I suggest that you take a look around the topics that are being written and worked on to get an idea of what's generally expected from a short story, but of course, don't be afraid to be creative and make up your own format too! I am still waiting for a good opportunity to submit a piece of music to the community.
Whenever you come up with a character, setting, or story, go ahead and post it here, in any stage of completeness, and we would be glad to help you, and maybe it will become EM Canon.

So, now I've actually put some writing up here, I figured I should properly introduce myself. My name is Mårten Bjärgvide (not only impossible for most people to pronounce, also impossible to write! Thanks, parents!) I am 23 years old, happily married, and a strong flavor of weird. I was born and raised in Sweden, but am currently traveling through the French speaking parts of Europe with my wife, working with a Christian theater group. I got into Magic in 2001, and even though I can't play much anymore (the whole "working with conservative Christians" thing), I'm still a big fan. I've been trying my hand at short story writing quite lot in the last year, and came here to find a way to polish those skills. Since I'm hittting the forum after Theros' announcement I felt I should pop in here.
Now the state of things with me is that I can't really commit to accomplishing much of my own work atm, not that I ever finished a story (characters and planes is something else).
I do have a question, as I would like to vote when I'm around, does my chaacters and planes qualify me for voting, or would I need a story? Since I won't be around all the time should I just abstain in general?
