I would prefer to see multiple attacks as a "Feat" or theme selection. Some warriors are good at beating down one opponent, others are good at fighting several at once. And a lesson we learn from "The Princess Bride" is that these two styles are very divergent.
I'm all for multiple attacks or single attacks being a Feat or Theme option. In particular, the idea that any attack in a sequence could be a Combat Maneuver appeals to me. Being able to choose between complex combos or large, single strikes feels like a nice, Fighter appropriate equivalent to a Wizard's spell preparation options.
