I'm a guy. I like pretty women. But all these bikini-clad or bare-midriff adventurers are ridiculous. It makes NO SENSE. It breaks immersion. And it makes it that much harder for many girls or young women to find D&D approachable.
Also, as a guy who likes playing funny characters, I think the occasional funny-looking guy or gal is perfectly appropriate. D&D is about adventure, but there should be room for other elements, and one of those is humor.
      Don't make D&D so...

Thief, Ranger and Slayer are all about on par for power. Slayer is tougher; Thief is more accurate; Ranger is the most damage. Crit fishing Avengers are pretty slammin' too, but it's a specific build. Barbarian and Warlock cross over into other roles, so they're hard to compare. Seeker never should have been written.
Knight is on par with Warden for defenses and survivability, but inferior to PHB fighters for off turn attacks, status debuffs, and forced movement. The knight's aura is...

I assume you're using the less negative connotation of powergamer -- a player who enjoys system mastery. I'm in two 4e games and run one myself, and all 3 of those games have "powergamers" in them. I'm one too, you could say. We all like 4th ed. better.
In 3.x, a powergamer can make a character that is ten times as powerful as the guy sitting next to him. In 4th ed, a powergamer can make a character that is perhaps 50% better than someone with no experience; 30% better than someone with...

Um, no. 4th Edition was a dummy version of DnD to cater to the MMO Generation of players, i.e. the kids. First and 2nd Edition were far more versatile as far as DM control and player character development. 3.5 was okay but fourth just stripped the game to a bare bones hack and slash system that needed minitures to help the players "imagine" the scenario they were in. As you said, your preferences are not everyone's. Thank the gods.

I've already tried to play with bards on 3.5. Didn't like it, but now bards are great! Just gotta find out if they'll work well as buffer! Unfortunately we'll star at level 1, so it will take a while to see how good buffer a bard can be :)

Yah, we found it to be a misinterpretation. I even asked D&D customer service and they also said it ends after the next turn.
