I like having some example unique items pre-made in the books. Especially some throw-backs and classics. But they're usually more of a jumping off point for me. I like to design my own items and I don't particularly care for rules (and a chapter thereof) to tell me how to do it "the right way". I generally disregard these rules and generate my ideas. This is... very awesome. I like the idea of moves you activate when needed. You don't necessarily have to risk wasting a daily power when you might miss, you can just follow up a successful strike with an opportunistic combo. It also clearly separates the fighter's fighting mechanic from the wizard's casting mechanic, which is always activated daily-power style (with a few exceptions, like Feather Fall).

I agree. I haven't played the playtest but just from reading the material, it seems that WotC is attempting to combine elements from all the editions and ultimately simplify the rules. I'm curious how 5e hitpoints actually compare to other editions.

About Me: My first DnD exposure was from ADnD 2e. I have been playing since 3e was released, converted to 3.5 and then played steadily with 4e, Adopting and Adapting to each new edition. I quit playing all RPGs almost 2 years ago. I am hoping to find local players to join the 5e playtest with me.
