I have a table of mostly newbs and players unfamilars with the complexity of 4e, they want to kill monsters, take thier stuff, and be heroes. I am cool with that, it is really nice to be able to play and not complain about powers, rules, and dumb stuff about that.
The issues that has come up with my players is AoOs. They still do not understand how they work and what triggers them. We still have players who make ranged attacks at point blank. That has lead me to the notion of just doing away with them. If an enemy wants to attack and then run away, I am going to allow it. The goal is to make the combats fluid. However I am still gonna keep in AoOs for those classes who use them, however since I am running fof Strikers, Leaders, and a controller, I am thinking the point is moot. Your thoughts.... Please keep in mind my concern is to keep things...FUN
I too have found that new players (especially younger players) have a hard time understanding the Opportunity Attack mechanic. I tend to enforce the rules for the more experienced players and let it slide for the newbies.
