Hey, WotC!
You guys are seriously planning a Game Day for stores to run ON GEN CON WEEKEND?? Worldwide DnD Game Day for stores....DURING GEN CON??
The store I run Encounters and Game Days at is in suburban Chicago, and most of my DMs and a lot of players will be AT Gen Con! I'd love to offer this, but I really don't think anyone is going to show up!! Not to mention the poor soul I have to recruit to run a table that day.
Please say we can do this another date!!!

No GenCon for me either, but I'll definitely be participating in GameDay this year.

This sounds like a great idea to me. This is National Game Day - note the National. . Over here in California, not many people are dropping everything to jet to GenCon. Most gamers nationwide are not going to Gencon. However, they Know that GenCon is out there and that they can't go. So, they have an option - a mini-Con if the store runs it right and the Date is freely advertised. Sound marketing to me.

And don't forget that this allows them to debut the product at GenCon events. It makes perfect sense from a marketing standpoint.

They're doing it this weekend because the new season of encounters, which takes place in Neverwinter, begins on Wednesday.
