The Carrion Vine is a trap, but I'm not sure that will be immediately obvious to the players. I'm afraid if I mention that, they'll go into meta-mode and ask for the countermeasures. Now, the arcana countermeasure is so stupid good (kill off a seed pod) that the encounter will end in only 2-3 rounds. I was wondering how you were planning to go about that? Only mention that they can use Arcana if they ask? Even mention that it's a trap? (IT'S A TRAP!) Please advise.

I would simply play it like an immobile monster unless one of the players make a nature check to identify it. If they do that (depending on their roll) you could divulge that the character remembers that this object act like a trap and then find a unique way of divulging that it has countermeasures (avoid just out and saying it, let the players figure some of it out).
Another neat way would be to wait till it grabs a creature and have Faldyra divulge one of the countermeasures by saying something like "Grab at the pedicel and twist to release your friend!" then have them make a nature check to see if they know what and where the pedicel is.

I would let my players make a monster knowledge check if they want to, and then probably hint at the countermeasures as long as they pass the moderate DC. Maybe something like, "Carrion Vines are usually found in the Feywild and rarely make their way into the natural world. A rather dim-witted plant, many an adventurer have survived only by managing to fool the vines, leaving them dumbfounded and confused." And if they don't choose to make a knowledge check, I'd have Faldyra be surprised to see them here say something along the same lines.
And by chance, I also happen to have a question. The wording in the Seed Pods and Vine Tentacle sections seems to be a little bit unclear; can the vine make a single attack from multiple pods, or do they all originate from the same square?

Each attack can originate from any square containing a pod. You can have multiple attacks made from the square, or every attack made from a different square, or some combination.
