      RE Hydra:
You want to cut off hydra heads because:
      - you get a respite from its attacks
      - it's much easier to do than attacking the body
      - the body is much harder to hit, has lots of HP, usually hidden (in a swamp, in the sand, etc), and attacking it might expose the attacker to devastating attacks.
      - the heads are coming right at you, so they are easier to hit (and perhaps intentionally not cutting them makes it easier for them to hit or something?).
      But I...

I'm kind of fond of this rough interpretation of a hippogriff. I like how its head is both equine and avian.

You could make a disease or curse that turns normal animals into part eagle versions of them selves, Like Griffons.
But just on the topic of Hippogriffs I find myself liking the far right picture with all legs ending in talons. If you made it so the talons when together make more of a hoof shape and when the use them to pick up prey they extend out like normal talons I think that would be cool. Or make Griffons more like predators and Hippogriffs more like a domesticated version.

I don't like Alignment restriction for dragons or Genies... it's up DM what use or Aligment he wants his Dragon or Genie have.... been always against Aligment Restriction for those creatures....
and why is Shadow Dragon always Chaotic evil???? it like copy paste some kinde of Black Dragon again.... but if we said that Shadow dragon usually are of neutrall aligment then we will have a very interesting Dragon race.... after all the plane of Shadow are a neutrall plane... it's mortal denizens...

I agree. Alignment has been part of the rules for a long time and should continue to be in the rules. And DMs have always ignored any rule that they didn't like so if some DM doesn't like alignment they don't have to use it, but the rest of us want it in the game.

Couldn't we just drop colour-coded dragons, please? And while we're at it, forget about fixed alignments for a whole species of intelligent creatures? Dragons encountered by the players should all be individuals, anyway. Dragons should become a toolbox: Provide a general template and pick and choose whatever abilities make sense for the single, unique dragon the party is about to encounter. Make dragons special, rather than just another random monster encounter.

One of the things that should be considered is the Idea of Multi Headed Dragons and that multi Headed Dragons possess a collective Intelligence. in essence all of the heads united together as one mind

The important part for any undead is a focus on the "rule of three". Why are they undead. What is their desire. How do they naturally expire. Zombies, skeletons, and ghouls are most often times made by necromancers, gods or very corrupt magical areas. Their desires are what their master bids or wonton destruction and death "mindless murder" being the key. They all expire when the magic or power that made them expires. Vampires liches are different in that they either choose or resolve that...

If a Wight or Wraith kills a living being that being becomes a Wight or Wraith but it does NOT have the ability to create any more of its kind. AKA they are a lesser Wight or Wraith. It keeps the threat of being turned into something so horrible but stops the perpetuation craziness.

For me Goblins should be like the ones depicted as in the Magic the Gathering universe.
For the little ones, The Goblin Marauder, Goblin War Strike or Goblin Psychopath by Pete Venters, maybe like The Goblin Brawler by Heather Hudson or The Goblin Warchief by Tim Hildebrandt,
One of my favorites is the painting art for the "Goblin Elite Infantry" by Robert Bliss. They look mean and badass! Long pointy ears with long and sharp nose; guess this model would fill the Hobgoblin, just add...

I know this is several months old now, but I wanted to drop in saying the picture in the end is pretty great, but I'd prefer the bugbear to be fatter.

Here is some info toward a folklore accurate Goblin. Altho many nature spirits translate into English as “goblins”, most of the stories about the actual Goblin come from Britain during the Romantic Era, late 1800s.
The D&D Goblin can match up well with the folklore, especially when a player race.
      • Typically: Very high Dexterity, high Intelligence, low Strength, low Charisma, very low Wisdom.
Goblins are stealthy and surprisingly spry. They are knowledgeable and clever, but...

Orcs were originally chaotic evil (cf Holmes Basic) but became lawful evil in the first Monster Manual. It may very well have been a misprint because editing wasn't exactly a priority when TSR was rushing out its releases (actually nothing has changed - see page XX).
